Chomsky: Today's Republican Party is a Candidate for Most Dangerous Organization in Human History

democracynow.org - We speak with world-renowned political dissident Noam Chomsky about the Republican party, the rightward shift in U.S. politics and the 2016 election. "If we were honest, we would say something that sounds utterly shocking and no doubt will be taken out of context and lead to hysteria on the part of the usual suspects," Chomsky says, "but the fact of the matter is that today’s Republican Party qualify as candidates for the most dangerous organization in human history. Literally."

I don't even think your average Republican voter would understand what Chomsky just said

Matthew Kelly No, because they don't understand how stupid the party has become. They are rejecting science. Something they have never done before. They didn't even reject it during the Bush 41 days.

Matthew Kelly Hahahah you clearly don't understand what he's trying to say. Yes, there have been extremely brutal regimes throughout history. One can even argue that the Nazis would have loved to destroy the world if they could, but they did not have that kind of power. As we speak the Republican Party is blocking any kind of significant action on climate change. They are literally against it. Do you want to know what happens if we don't do something about this? The planet will basically be uninhabitable by the end of the century. So yes, Hitler killed millions. Stalin did as well. But right now we have a choice to make, and that is are we going to preserve the Earth or make it impossible for 7 billion people to live on it? Before you say Hitler might have made the same choice or whatever, just understand that we don't know what the hell he would have done if he had this kind of power. All we know is what is happening right now. And they are fucking dangerous

Honestly, I really don't want to waste my time with you anymore. Don't think that's because I can't have a debate about this. I obviously can, considering I am on the winning side of the argument. I just don't want to waste my time anymore.

Joe B Another problem which I've noticed is that they inherit their party affiliations from their parents which is kind of depressing. You're basically taught that you have to defend your team no matter what, even if you do not know what the policies are. Many of my coworkers are in this bucket. Too stupid to think for themselves. I would even test them by asking them what they think of certain policies and then I would lie to them and say Obama supports a certain bad policy and they would say he's a "communist". After that I would inform them that Reagan was the one who actually supported the policy and then they would just say "I don't believe it."

YES! Chomky, dancing around the harsh truth of the matter only a bit, but getting to the point without overly upsetting the "usual suspects", who would in fact take all that can't be dared to utter, but fingered in your interview--they would take all out-of-context if you spoke even more truth. I have lived in Germany and traveled the world, and I have found that The truth is that Nazism never died and has been carried over into American politics in what is now becoming something like an open rally for Nazism. This American Republican-fascist uprising which you hint at, which you also hint has been leading to a pseudo-Nazi state, is the American version of the same economic pressures and racism which lead to rise of the Nazi party in Germany, which you refer to in your interview. This planned out strategy to instill right-wing overtly Nazi style policy has been in it's chaotic fashion, coming to fruition for this past generation you mention. The decades of "failed" policy was deliberately planned, in a covert but openly chaotic fashion, and the end result has been precisely planned for all these years with our NATO partners and the covert fascist/Nazi splinter groups or those who claim to be "Democratic" but have been operating to bring about, all the "failures", leading to an ecomonimca straining point, all of which has been geared towards this cataclysm of political ultra right wing leadership (and worse is yet to come). This has been strategically planned for all these decades (or longer) to achieve what you call the "most dangerous party" in history on the precipice, because these political leaders are sticking to a planned and failing policy which is unsustainable, but which they adhere to in order to fulfill the expectations of the Party to which they belong. The bipartisan party system has merged into one party with various names, yet it is currently one unified One Party system with a facade of "Left' or "Right" policies, but leaning ever more to the Right and tending towards a blind obligation to fulfill policy that is counterproductive to all society. The old policies did not take into account climate change nor the severe threat of nuclear war, and/or if these factors had been taken into account, then the insane and crazy leaders are absolutely bent on destroying all life and the planet, perhaps they are trying to create the Apocalypse mentioned in The Bible.

I respect Noam Chomsky and I acknowledge that this interview was publicized in 2016 and a lot has changed since then. However, here's the problem: The message is too long and complicated. We have people who are just trying to make it through their day, just trying to get the bills paid, the kids fed, the parents taken care of, the job done, etc. it's the same thing with climate change. Keep the message to the point and simple so that busy people get it fast so they can deal with their lives.

+Fabrizio Aldonne Not really when you think about it. The republican party would have much more influence and power when they win and would considerably increase the threat of human destruction throught their policys. They are not dangerous in the way criminals or terrorists are dangerous. Isis is bad but the (possible) impact of the republican party is much scarier.

+JogurtinDosen The republicans have access to the nuclear codes and the most destructive military in human history. it's really pretty much a no-brainer they're more destructive than Isis. Hell, we probably won't even be talking about Isis in a couple years. When you've been around a while you figure out that these chowderheads make up a new bogeyman every few years.
