I have been binge watching all of your videos. They have been super helpful for me. We are currently in the process of taking in 2 male chinchillas. The owners are rehoming them. When they got them they thought they were getting females and it turned out they were males and they already had a female chinchilla so they don't want baby chinchillas. 😂 I've never owned a chinchilla before but have been interested in them. I have experience with rodents such as hamsters and guinea pigs but I'm ready to take on a new challenge. This video was especially helpful because I don't want to stress them out when moving them here so I'm trying to find the best way to transport them. Itll be about a 30 minute drive. It will also be the second time these guys will be rehomed and I want to be the person to give them a permanent one. Thank you for making these videos. They have been extremely helpful and I'm so sorry for the long comment 😂

If your chin ever gets sick 😷 please let me know I’m a exotic animal vet and work with them everyday. Also if u wanted to bond them now the perfect time at a new place that they both don’t recognize they won’t fight and it’ will work

Thank you for the tips! I wish I had been able to stay home to begin the bonding process but I was only home for 2 hours in order to finish filming so unfortunately it’ll have to be postponed🙁

I have a chinchilla named aventurine but we call him veni he is the same color as Merlin and I’m so excited because on August 3 is when we have had him for a year!

I got my chinchilla a couple months ago, because of your videos he has a great life! his name is Desi. he is named after a character in one of may favorite books: The Tale Of Desperaux by Kate Dicamillo. Its about a mouse with big ears so I thought the name fit even though he is a chinchilla! I love your videos!

Q1: What metal carrier did you use to put Zorro in when you moved (brand and where did you get it)? I tried getting one from Midwest Homes for toy dogs like the one I thought I saw in your video, but it didn't take Momo very long to get through the slats and escape! I see yours is slightly different with what looks like to be a door on the side and the front, but I'm not sure if the slats are narrower. Q2: Do you know the width of the space between the bars? Q3: What brand and where did you get the metal fencing you use for playtime or whatever?

It is okay to get only one, but pay it a lot of attention, so it doesn’t get depressed. The cage should be 2 stories. Oh, I feel sad that since you got another chinchilla they haven't bonded yet. I adopted my Bubi 1 month ago and I'm looking forward to get another one to have a companion to play with, but I'm scared that they will be aggressive to each other. Are yours chinchillas "talk" to each other by cage or try to interact by jumping or something? Good luck! Love

Just a tip too, if you get another chinchilla it’s always good to quarantine them so you can make sure they don’t hold any diseases or illnesses that can affect the chinchilla you already have. Best of luck! Blessed be ✨

you dont have to give him away you . should give him 2 weeks or a month to get over his freinds death and get him a new buddy so he doesnt get lonly

after his/her buddy died its not nice to give him/her away spend time with him/her

So I’m getting a chinchilla soon and the guy who’s selling it to me says they can sell me a cage along with it and I just asked about it and the cage is TINY it’s like a hamster cage and now I’m wondering if this breeder really takes good care of the chinchillas. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos to prepare for getting a chinchilla and I think this is probably why so many people have cages too small for their chinchillas. You may not respond to this since you’re busy, but what do you think? Should breeders really be selling cages “approved for chinchillas” that are the size of hamster cages? Edit: the guy said that large cages can be dangerous for chinchillas, and the chinchilla I want is used to having a small cage, should I worry about this?

I would say yes. A reputable breeder will know that this animal needs a large cage, it does not really matter what they are used to. Big cages can be dangerous if the placement of the shelves is not good or if there is a large open space they can fall through but just using logic you can make any big cage suitable for the fluff. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but it seems like they dont know what their doing if they think the animal is good in a hamster cage, those cages are not even good for hamsters. I say get the animal and ditch the cage if you really want it, or check for an actual ethical breeder or pet owner to come along. This is a major red flag.

Mina Samsonova the guys kind of upset I’m doubting his knowledge on the chinchillas, but I told him I’d rather buy the chinchilla alone and I’ve been looking at a two story critter nation. I feel like that might not be big enough for the chinchilla soon but if it’s gonna be nervous in a big space I can get the third story when it’s comfortable in the cage, and I don’t quite have the money for the top floor yet 🥺

Min Holly I got some yards of fleece from craft stores and cut it and had my grandmother sew them together for me😊

I just saw the hay feeder in Merlins cage. You should take away that because he can break his legs if he jumps in it. They are very dangerous for chinchillas. Also some of the oxbow treats you have in this video is not safe for chinchillas. The ones that have fruits in it are bad for chinchillas. There are so many treats with a photo of a chinchilla on the package and they are all not safe. I hope your babies will like their new home.

This is the most scariest thing my grandma aunt where bringing are animals Gus Gus was in a shoe box no air and hot air was blasting we got Gus Gus out and all the other animals had holes but not Gus Gus we were scared
