At 1.7 its soft(ish) but stop it down it to 2.8 and the centre gets sharp and by f4 its real sharp. I shot video with it on the S1H/Sigma FP at between f2.8 to f8 and its really cinematic, but to get that bokeh I use the Chinon 55mm f1.4. My f1.4 I know was made by Tomioka, the f1.7 not to sure it could be either made by Tomioka or by Sun. Either way they are fantastic glass for that cinematic look on narrative projects.

Love the video, Got this Chinon 55mm f1.7 lens just 2 days ago. Already have the Chinon 55mm f1.4 by Tomioka, the Chinon 35mm f2.8 and the Chinon 28mm f2.8 all with the faux leather focus ring. Now building the tapered Chinon/Alpa set.
