Chinese and english recipe/ instructions below :
材料:
1. 大約 600 克 = 22 oz, 泰國芋頭
2. 3 條臘腸
3. 7 個小冬茹, 醃料: 1 茶匙生抽, 小許糖拌勻
4. 3 個瑤柱
5. 20 克 = 0. 7 oz, 蝦米
粉料:
1. 170 克 = 6 oz, 先濾粘米粉
2. 3 茶匙先濾澄麵粉
3. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, 水
調味料:
1. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, 包括浸冬茹, 瑤柱水在內
2. 1 茶匙蠔油
3. 2 茶匙雞粉
4. 1 茶匙糖
5. 1 茶匙鹽
6. 1茶匙五香粉
7. 1/4 茶匙胡椒粉
1. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, 水
2. 1 茶匙麻油
灑面:適量青蔥粒和炒香白芝麻
點味跟: X O 醬, 辣椒醬
此食譜共需要 900 ml = 30.43 fl oz, 水份
大火蒸 50 分
Ingredients:
1. around 600 grams = 22 oz, thai taro
2. 3 chinese sausages
3. 7 small dried chinese mushrooms, marinade: 1 tsp light soy sauce, a pinch of sugar, stir well
4. 3 scallops
5. 20 grams = 0. 7 oz, dried shrimps
The batter:
1. 170 grams = 6 oz, sieve rice flour
2. 3 tsp sieve wheat starch
3. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, water
Seasoning:
1. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, ( incloud soaked mushrooms and schallps water)
2. 1 tsp oyster sauce
3. 2 tsp chicken powder
4. 1 tsp sugar
5. 1 tsp salt
6. 1 tsp five-spice powder
7. 1/4 tsp pepper
1. 300 ml = 10.14 fl oz, water
2. 1 tsp sesame oil
Garnish: some spring onion dices and fried white sesame seeds
Serve: X O sauce, hot chilli sauce
This recipe all together need 900 ml = 30.43 fl oz, water
Steaming time: High heat around 50 mins

    Every time I go to the dim sum place , I always order taro cake, never realized it took so many steps to make them. They look delicious !! I think I will try it some day . Thanks for sharing !

    Thank you, Maria, for this recipe. My mum made very good taro cake but her way was more complicated and it turned out delicious. Fried taro cake is the best. I had tried many times to make it her way but never successful. I'll give a try using your way. Hope I'll get it right as taro is very expensive here.

    Angela make your own chicken stock by boiling a load of chicken bones with water. You can add salt and pepper or any flavourings that will taste good in this dish. Wantanmein you deserve a big reward for all your creative home cooking. I love this recipe.

    Wantanmein, how do tell if a wutau will fen (be powdery) or not fen (not powdery)? You know, sometimes some wutau will not be powdery even if you cook them for long time.

    Well, since Wikipedia isn't working (snark), taro is a type of root vegetable (not sure where it's native too though). It's similar to a potato in terms of taste and texture (although, I think it's a little firmer and stickier with an earthier taste) with a very woody outer skin. Very popular in Asian, Southeast Asian and Polynesian cooking.
