Chinese ‘smelly’ snail noodles go slow and steady to win popularity race across Asia

Once obscure to anyone outside China’s southern Liuzhou city, pungent noodles known as luosifen exploded in popularity among young Chinese diners during the Covid-19 pandemic. Served in a broth made with river snails, the noodles have a strong flavour that often draws comparisons to another local favourite dish, durian fruit. Luosifen is now even starting to attract fans in nearby countries.

I remember watched Liziqi’s channel, she made snail noodle about 5 years ago. I think some companies used her recipe to run their own business, they should share their profits for her hard works.

I always can't get over the smell, reminds of gutter or the WC tbh and it hits you like a punch, it's in the same league as Durian or stinky tofu... The smell lingers in the air for hours up to a whole day if a single portion is made or served indoors without adequate circulation. Fermented bamboo shoots are very pungent, however, the taste of the dish as a whole is quite subtle and not nearly as bad IF you leave out or use less of the hot and sour bamboo.

the broth is made of snail though, it's junk food. but nowadays people like junk food, they can eat a lot and don't gain weight. you don't really need so much protein.

If your definition of junk means hamburgers or instant noodles, sure, you can lump Luosifen as instant versions of it was created. But original recipes does contain snail/conch meat.

India 🇮🇳 doesn't even have a Michelin Star restaurant, - That goes to show Indian cuisine is not so much popular with the rest of the world. - Very oily, overspiced and overcooked - Perfect for those looking to go to the next other world asap through diabetes, heart attacks, high cholesterol, high blood pressure etc.
