"娘子军连歌" is a Chinese march which originated as a song in 1959 for the Chinese movie, "The Red Detachment of Women". The song was then popularized as a military march and performed at People's Liberation Army concerts and events. The song compares women joining the Red Army to the folklore character Mulan, who fought against the Huns to defend her country, as the Red Army did to the KMT.
