I am amazed at how well my machine works after taking the time to understand it (thanks to K S Lam) . I have been using it steadily for months and it just works great. I thought maybe I had made a mistake after buying it (based on comments on KZread by those that had issues) but I continued to understand and work with settings and it has turned out to be a lot of fun and well worth the money. The people who made it put a lot of effort into a small mechanical wonder. A true learning adventure that I would highly recommend to anyone with some basic skills and a love for learning mechanical systems.

That is what I experienced in the past years. These little machines are not popular in Hong Kong and even China herself as they are not for domestic use. People who use these machines for a living would learn all the skills themselves no matter how difficult they are. They would overcome them and develop their own unique ways to use the machines. There are no discussion groups about the use of the machines in China. However, they are now quite popular among the Westerners as they need it for making bags, sheath etc. and for the cheap price. They are also quite good at DIY projects and this machine is one of their must-have tools.

Thank you for watching. The cell phone compartment is the main reason why I DIY this small bag. I could not find one suitable for bringing all my personal stuff such as ID card, credit card, cash, keys and above all the cell phone in the market.

Make sure to clean and polish the bobbin and any part that comes in contact with it. Also, clean and lubricate all parts you can reach. This will improve the machine's ability to run smooth. I have also noticed the bobbin tension needs to be tighter for 92 thread. I use the far right hole and then the middle hole where the tension spring is located. The thread tension does not need to be tight and if you get a loop in the top thread, loosen the thread tension. Every machine is different, so this may or may not be helpful.

I have a problem I have watch all of the Video and have it set up the Wright way the needle picks up the bobbin thread fine . When I try to sew something about the second stitch the thread from the spool bunch up down where the needle goes into bobbin. Please help. Thanks

One more note. I have had occasional trouble when sewing through leather with undried contact adhesive. It gummed up the needle and caused the top thread to do the same thing Lams machine did with the bobbin. Cleaning and being careful to not use too much adhesive is the key. Be careful of double sided tapes being too gummy!!

Yes, the needle would become sticky after stitching for a while. However, it is better than the contact adhesive. The tape would not cause much trouble although needle becoming gummy. The needle can sew on without much hindrance. A way to prevent it is to put your tape away from the needle path although the space is limited.

Hiya - I've been looking around for how to start / end the stitch run (so basic doesn't seem to be covered much!). From this, you run forwards 3 stitches, back 3 stitches through the same holes (hopefully!), then forward again. Is this correct? Any hints? Would be a great addition vid to your "how a stitch is formed" vids . Thanks again.

There are no fixed rules for that. I usually run backward first and forward then for two or three stitches. The aim is to make the stitches lock themselves up. This applies to both starting and ending of stitching.

@@kslam5733 thanks for that - makes sense as forward / back / forward will "perforate" the material. My machine doesn't like going backwards much though - I think I need to repolish the bottom bobbin again. I am getting consistent forward stitching now thanks to your help tho!

@@SlowPersuit My way to start sewing is : reserve 2 to 3 stitch spaces to start backward stitches, then forward 2 to 3 stitches to start sewing. i.e. keep 2/3 stitches spaces / back / forward. This is to avoid to perforate the fabrics too much, just 2 runs instead of 3 as you mentioned.

@ 1:07 how did you make the machine sew reverse with out turning the sewing foot the other direction?

This is a useful way to continue sewing in some places the turning of the presser foot is not convenient. Raise up the presser foot; keep on sewing and use your thumb to act as the presser foot to tighten up each lock stitch, move the fabric in a suitable length by hand. This method is also a good way to mend the old leather goods by following the old needle holes to restitch.
