  • 2 жыл бұрын

    @@jon964 I just bought a new one in the end for £89.99, they are so cheap.. the service kit was £30 and I managed to sell the old unit for £40 spares or repairs. Personally. I recommend doing the same. If you've had a lot of use from it then they are so cheap it is worth replacing it by now as other parts like electronics etc will begin to get tired. That's just my two p. You may decide to keep yours going forever :)

    The most important is to clean the mesh inside the steel burner, the breather hole and the atomiser mesh, eventually the glow plug, the rest is not that important. If you don't clean the aforementioned you'll get white smoke guaranteed.

    I think you could get it clean af if you soak some home made "Ed's Red" bore solvent into the carbon and scrubbed it good, then wiped it out and scrubbed it in soapy water. Then rince it with boiling water so it'll get hot enough the moisture steams off it.

I have my heater in just over a year and last night the 01 error code came up but wouldn't reset with the 1688 code...would giving the heater a clean and change glow plug help...batteries were fully charged also so no low voltage issue.

    Any reason why you had to take it apart? Just wondering, mine stopped working after a few months. Some searches said I shouldn't have ran it on the low setting since is causes soot buildup in the chamber. Yours looked like it was still good inside?

  • @andysutils

    @andysutils

    That's not because you're running it on low. That's because your pulsing rate is set to low on your control board so it's not burning the fuel quick enough on it's lowest mode.

    @@tonyasue88 Press the menu until you get to the code entry screen, most if not all of the codes are 1688. This will take you through to the engineers settings, go through them until you get to the screens where you can set the minimum and maximum pulse rates. If you dont smell any sweet smell type burning fuel cycling out of the exhaust outlet. Then you dont have to change anything.

    Actually soaking carbon buildup in hot soapy water or even better steam cleaning works great! I once left a set of cylinder heads that were caked with carbon upside down outside overnight. it rained that night and the combustion chambers filled with water. I used a wire wheel to clean them up but the water soaking overnight caused the carbon to flake off nicely I could see the big time flaking when I dumped the water out of them that wasn't there the day before. I did use brake cleaner for the final clean on the gasket mating surface. Now I take a spray bottle of water with engine hot at idle and spray the water straight into the intake. cleans better than some solvents in most cases. No joke!

  • @leviscott8519

    @leviscott8519

    Brake clean does work good for a final cleaning though. If its oil/grease yes brake clean after a diesel brush scrub because it brakes down the grime and doesn't evaporate quick like harsh solvents/brake clean. Iv been around the engine building block.
