Diesel Heater tear down and repair!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

EP 42 Chinese Diesel Heater tear down and repair! - Its cold, the heater isn’t working, so I’m going to take it apart with no instructions or guidance, and see if I can figure out what’s wrong, fix it, and get some heat back! Turns out, it’s pretty easy to do, and to clean!

Wow. You fast forwarded through the disassembly and assembly part possibly the most important part.

Hmm - I didn’t think I fast forwarded through anything critical - is there a step I went through too quick that I can help with? I really just unscrewed things until it came apart… 😎

Nice video. I've been contemplating buying a couple of these for backup heat when the power goes out - because it will at some point.

You didn't clean the atomizer screen? If you take it apart you need to clean or replace that screen?

my advice to anyone using a diesel heater is don,t burn engine waste oil . it will block your burner and make a mess ,these heaters are not designed to burn waste engine oil . they dont burn hot enough to be able to cope with waste engine oil ,that,s why we have special heaters designed for that .the diesel heaters will burn cleaned cooking oil ,the problem with waste engine oil ,it has heavy metals in it ,to help lubrication and longer life . these do not burn well and will leave a nasty crusty deposit in your burn chamber .

Yup, I’d agree. You *can* burn it - but other than seeing if it would work, I wouldn’t do it again 🤪

You have to remove that ring in the burn chamber to get it all out. (kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXV-08txhbStj9Y.html) And yes, if you're burning oil, this will happen. Be prepared to clean that out every couple of tanks. Lots of people looking for a way to fix this, but I haven't seen any solutions yet, just ideas that didn't work. Several older Chinese diesel heater discussion groups have banned the topic of burning oil because it has been beat to death so many times.

That was cool. I hadn't seen one disassembled before. It blew me away when you didn't change out the fuel, though, but I understand why now. LOL What's the outcome?

It’s running great! Still a bit Smokey on startup sometimes, but once it’s running it’s fine. I haven’t been mixing oil in though, just running old diesel through it now.

I've been doing research on burning waste motor oil in these Heaters. My understanding is that you need to be able to adjust the air fuel ratio. Only some of the Keypad's/controllers will allow you to get into The Secret menu in order to do so.

  • @BruceandKrista

That would be great info to have! I think it may also work better if the oil was filtered before burning.

dont bother , it will bugger up your heater ,and you will spend more time cleaning it than using it ,there not designed to burn waste motor oil ,there is already heaters designed for that , you need very high temps to burn waste motor oil . everybody who tries it, ends up rebuilding there heater . waste motor oil has heavy metals in it ,that will block your burn chamber ,no matter how much you tune it .

@@gizmo1252000 Where are you getting your information? There are many people who are successful at doing this, but only those who are getting into the secret menu and adjusting the air fuel ratio. Those that don't adjust it are failing miserably. Where are these heavy metals supposedly coming from? There are no heavy metals in oil itself, nor are there any within an engine.

Interesting - hadn’t thought of that. I suspect if anything it might dislodge it, but not sure if it would completely dissolve it, so it may just end up stuck further “downstream” (?) I should have saved it and tested if anything dissolved it!

@@BruceandKrista oh have your thought of adding a little 2stroke to the diesel so it helps with lubricants stuff ?

  • @BruceandKrista

    @BruceandKrista

There is no need for additional lubricant - they are designed to run on diesel, which is the lubricant. Adding a small amount of oil won’t improve anything mechanically. My intent by adding oil was purely a form of consuming the oil (and thus less diesel) and an experiment to see how well it would perform.
