First time seeing your channel. You sure did put a bright smile on my face. I may be biased but i do think our cuisine have a lot to offer. Due to Somalia being a melting hub of different food culture. As African, Arab and Desi culture flow to the horn of Africa. Combined with our own dishes . A hidden gem in the international food arena 😊😊😊

I'm so glad! I'm so happy to have received this recommendation from my viewer - I have no doubt, as you've said, that there is so much more deliciousness to explore in East African cuisine. You're right, it's a hidden gem, so underrepresented in western media. I hope to have more opportunities to try more soon! Thanks for watching.

Somali restaurants here in Toronto stopped serving bananas with meals in around 2020 during the heyday of the pandemic. Not at Istar, Xamdi or Xawaash either.
This delicious food must be eaten by hand. This is too delicious to be eaten with cutlery 🍴😅

It is delicious. I’m just glad I got to eat it. Don't know if I have enough skill to eat by hand and not make a mess. Will have to try next time perhaps.
The food looks yummy. Thanks for once again introducing me to a new food Clark. Or is it Clarke?

Somali food, kind of like Mediterranean food are easy on the palate of all sorts of people, yet still quite flavourful.

Yeah. Our is very fresh and fragrant. If I were to describe it, I'd say that "Somali food what you'd get if Indian and Mediterranean cuisine had a baby." Alot of Arabian foods can be described like that as well, tbh.
This is a great food show 🙌😁📹🔮

This is a nice sunny day! The photographs and art lend Sahan an authentic feel. I like the mango welcome drink: so colorful (and tasty, I imagine). The goat ribs is stunning. The sight of the meat coming off the bone with a gentle pull was sufficient evidence of how well the meat is cooked. The beef stew was even more attractive, if this was possible. It is nicely compiled, with rice, vegetable, and beef all together. The hot sauce (colour and consistency) was intriguing, as often it is red, and thick. Still, it seems to do the job well! Thanks for featuring the milk cake, i like the light sponge and the milk at the bottom. Wish you a great weekend, Clark!

Thanks for checking out the video. Yes, lucky to have a day of nice weather. Hope all is well over in your neck of the woods!
Silly question, but what time of day did you go? I’m still a little gun shy about dining indoors because of the pandemic but would consider it if it wasn’t too busy or crowded.
@IGetFood
Жыл бұрын
not silly, understandable - I got there around their opening hours, 11'ish I think? Something like that. Evenings is when they are usually busier for dine in from what I hear from other regulars that came in for takeout - it seems like lunch is more geared to the take away crowd. Weekends can get busy too.
Petty awesome 👌

Short answer - yes. That said, I generally try to see what’s good about something even if it’s not my personal fave and then talk about that. If you watch enough of my videos, you’ll see some differences in my reactions and be able to parse out what I really love and then things I may not love as much, but still can find something interesting to get excited about.

I much prefer the Somali rice seasoning tbh. Their rice dish is number 1 IMO followed by the Jordanian mansaf and also like the Yemeni one better than the Indian/Pakistani. Authentic Somalian and Ethiopian food are simply regal and heavenly in taste.
