CHINATOWN - Kuala Lumpur: The GOOD & The BAD!

The district of Chinatown in downtown Kuala Lumpur is busy and vibrant, full of history, beautiful temples and great food.
Before we head into Chinatown, we'll visit the incredible Thean Hou Temple, a 6-tiered temple opened in 1989 and borrowing from Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian traditions.
Then it's straight to the heart of Chinatown, Jalan Petaling, also known as the Petaling Street Market. Certainly tourist-oriented but a must stop off in the city.
We'll have some amazing lunch at Mee Tarik Restoran close by (recommended!) and head around to the Taoist Guan Di Temple from 1886.
Close by there's the popular Kwai Chai Hong, with street art showing Chinatown as it would have been in the 60s before visiting the Chan She Shu Yuen (CSSY) Clan Ancestral Hall to learn a little about Chinese clan association buildings.
After that we'll visit the Central Market (Pasar Seni) along with it's art section before stepping just outside of Chinatown to the beautiful Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad.
Come with me and I'll show you around this awesome part of KL!

your presentation, the music you use in your videos, and your video effects are really impressive. but despite all this, it's very surprising that you don't get as many views as other KZreadrs...

Thank you, I appreciate it! It's certainly hard getting traction in the travel vlogging space but I'll continue putting out what I believe is good content and hopefully it will continue to grow.

Malaysia is great and I wish I had some more time there but only passed through for 3 days on this trip. Penang has some amazing Chinese history as well and I'd love to get back there and film

Thanks! Yeah it’s been hard to publicize that, I posted it on the discussion but I doubt many folks see that. I think it’s better to just separate off the 100% food content rather than post 2 different styles here

@@ChrisKermis I missed the discussion. But in my opinion (but who am I) it is precisely the combination that I like. If you put it in one video, then as a viewer I am in a flow of; you are there and this is what you can see, the atmosphere and how the food is prepared and tastes. You show it so beautifully in the video how it tastes, that I can almost taste it,.. And besides, I'm lazy and only want to see you once a week. (joking of course)

@@Taco-CThe food stuff is something I'll always leave in the travel videos here, it's an important part of the experience after all. Where the other channel could diverge more is things like individual restaurants which really wouldn't fit here. Potentially even some closer to home stuff at some stage in the future. Anyway, this will likely be a lazy week 🙂 I'll almost certainly not get a Chris Kermis video out this Sunday, my next one is a tough one to get right and I've got 2 sets of guests this week from the other side of the world. Anyway, thanks for your support and feedback, it's appreciated!

17 years ago, not many migrants from bangladesh, pakistan, nepal came to kl. Mostly indonesians back then

So those communities are a lot more recent than the Chinese in Malaysia. The Chinese history shows, particularly in Penang

@@ChrisKermis of course. Indians and Chinese were brought here legally via British gov. Others are economic migrants, some are undocumented. It is a mess now.
