A Day Discovering Kuala Lumpur | What is it Like?

This is our first time in Malaysia so we spent the day discovering Kuala Lumpur and exploring the downtown area of Malaysia's Capital city to see what it is like today. We tried local street food in KL for the first time, visited central market, saw some main tourist attractions in the city and explored Malaysia's Chinatown as well as the variety of Indian foods here.
Places we visited in this video:
Petaling Walking Street: g.page/petaling-street-market...
Central Market: goo.gl/maps/EoPRv7ujDTpaVVhaA
Kolam Biru: (Building with Fountains by the River of Life) goo.gl/maps/11uY7hro2QfYsQ8u7

That mosque looking building is called Dayabumi complex..earliest skyscraper and used to be the tallest building in Malaysia in 1984....it is not a mosque but a commercial building with Islamic architectural influence....similar to the KLCC building . .it's also owned by Petronas property....

3:32 - Central Market (a.k.a Pasar Seni) formerly known as _Pasar Besar Kuala Lumpur_ which sold wet goods such as fish, meat, chicken, vegetables and groceries, the goods sold were daily necessities for the residents and tin miners in Kuala Lumpur. The market once again changed its face when in 1985, it was renovated and upgraded. Near this market is an LRT station, the "Pasar Seni" station. Today, Pasar Seni with its art-decorated building is a cultural center for the exhibition and development of culture, arts, and the field of "handicrafts" in Malaysia. Pasar Seni is a group of shops that focus on Malaysian handicrafts that sell traditional clothing and items such as traditional Malaysian batik. 7:49 - That is a call for Muslims to indicate that it is time to pray

Loving you guys' spirit and openness! Malaysia is made up of 3 main races - Chinese, Malays and Indians - and that's why everything such as our food, culture, architecture etc. is made up of those/has those influences. And due to colonisation, you will also see influences of British (the red post box that you guys saw), Japanese, and Portuguese & Dutch (prevalent in the state of Melaka/Malacca), throughout the country. For street food, you gotta try Ramly burger. A little bit of history, the patties were created by a Malaysian due to what he felt was a lack in "halal certified" burgers at the time (it was mostly Western franchise) back in 1984. Today these patties are sold to street food vendors all over Malaysia where they then open their own "Ramly burger" stalls. Each stall does it a little differently (like nasi lemak), so try till you find one you like. Here are the keywords to help you order, mix and match to your liking: Chicken = Ayam (pronounced i-yaam) Beef = Daging Egg made in a ring/ egg patty (no meat) = Benjo (you can always order this even if they don’t have it written on the menu) Egg wrap = Special Single patty = Single Double patty = Double Triple patty = Triple Veggies = Sayur (pronounced psy-yor) Cheese = Cheese/Keju Sauce = Sos Mayo = Mayo More = Lebih Less = Kurang Without = Tak mau My go-to is the ayam double special cheese (double chicken patty + egg wrap + cheese) but maybe you can order 2 burgers (1 chicken and 1 beef just to try both out). Special note though, not all street burger vendors sell Ramly burgers (some do their own patties, so make sure you ask for Ramly. Or if you have more time and stomach space, do try the vendors' own patties as well! Enjoy!

Selamat pagi. App khabar?:) Hey and hello to Both of you! I just watched you're vlog and would like to thank you very much! I've lived in KL for 8 years and your video brought many, many memories. It's still haven't change that much and food prices still totally affordable and yummy. Just to share couple of stories, the street you've unfortunately over paid a little for sunglasses was without roof top for decades. It was rough during monsoon season. Believe me, monsoon can be tough in Malaysia. For example, the river you've been admiring while on bridge, went so high many years ago during one moonson afternoon, literally off to the streets.l! Anyway I love cuti-cuti Malaysia! Enjoy your day. Cheers from North Germany PS. Dosa is such a unbelievable dish!!!!

It's very odd until now, those stalls in Petaling Street still quote double the price of what they intend to sell to you finally. That's why all tourist need to be care when buying anything from Petaling Street. Don't just ask for a small discount. You need to ask for at least a 50% discount just like your sunglass. Another place where you need to ask for at least a 50% discount is our neighbouring country at Hatyai, Thailand.

31st of August is Malaysia Independence day…Before covid, in the eve of the 31st there was always fireworks at the Twin tower KLCC area and also at the Dataran Merdeka ( Merdeka Square)…Am not sure if there will be fireworks this year but since everything is back to normal now, I foresee there will be fireworks in that area again as this year’s celebration could more special after 2 years of lockdown…you can enjoy it at the KLCC twin towers area coz normally the road will be closed for cars, so the people can enjoy the celebaration, but expect massive of people there…you can also enjoy it from Saloma link bridge which is a beautiful beridge, and your footage of fireworks at the twin towers will be awesome as the bridge is covered with LED panels that changes colors every few minutes…The bridge connects KLCC twin towers area to Kampung baru area by walking.

Kampung baru is where malays are located in kl. But others live in the outskirt too. Kl was founded by a chinese named mr yap ah loy (the kapitan of kl).

Not exactly correct but I give it to you. According to the late Prof Khoo Kay Kim, the real founder of Kuala Lumpur is Sutan Puasa. And Yap Ah Loy is the prime mover of building KL into what it is. But both are interchangeable depend on whose naration you want to choose.

you guys should visit the suburbs of kl and you would realise the diversity of cultures and races in malaysia. Malaysia isnt just made up of one race rather it is a mix of multiple races such as malay, chinese, indian, sikh, orang asli etc
