China’s Vanishing Muslims: Undercover In The Most Dystopian Place In The World

China’s Uighur minority live a dystopian nightmare of constant surveillance and brutal policing. At least one million of them are believed to be living in what the U.N. described as a “massive internment camp that is shrouded in secrecy,” while many Uighur children are taken to state-run orphanages where they're indoctrinated into Chinese customs.
The Uighurs' plight has largely been kept hidden from the world, thanks to China’s aggressive attempts to suppress the story at all costs.
VICE News’ Isobel Yeung posed as a tourist to gain unprecedented access to China’s western Xinjiang region, which has been nearly unreachable by journalists.
She and our crew experienced China’s Orwellian surveillance and harassment first-hand during their time in Xinjiang, and captured chilling hidden-camera footage of eight Uighur men detained by police in the middle of the night. We spoke with members of the Uighur community about their experience in these camps, and about China’s attempts to silence their history and lifestyle under the cover of darkness.

It’s always super insightful of the actual situation going on and shows the viewer what they’re not usually shown so they can make their own judgement. One group can say there’s concentration camps, one can say that there’s training compounds. What do you see?

+Last Word Maybe you weren't around for Pol Pot in Cambodia (Kampuchea): 2 million civilians killed. How about the Bosnian civil war during the early 1990s, or Rwanda (1994), where they tried to wipe out the Tutsi ethnic minority? The Rohingya situation has been ongoing in Burma (Myanmar) for some time now. So much for the 'peaceful' religion of buddhism, as buddhists gang up on muslims and Christians. ISIS and other islamic terrorists have been going after Christians in the Arab world ever since the so-called 'democratic' Arab Spring revolts. Kim Jong-un in North Korea is a butcher. He killed his uncle with an anti-aircraft gun and his half-brother with some shady chemical weapon. He builds nukes while peasants starved. His father before him was reported as saying, during a famine, that the death of 70 percent of his people would be acceptable so long as the regime survived. Sadly, this is par for the course. (Romans 3:23) 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' But this is the first time in my memory that China has been exposed for 'ethnic cleansing'. This must be only a scratch on the surface of Chinese hypocrisy.

People are people across the whole wide world. (Romans 3:23) 'FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.' I mentioned quite a few instances of persecution. It so happens that in this case, Chines are doing it to Uighurs, using the EXCUSE of islamic terrorism. But the record of the CCP is well known. If it has murdered millions of its own CHINESE citizens in the past, why should it have difficulty commmiting crimes against a non-Chinese minority?

if anyones wondering what the situation is like almost 5 years later; I visited xinjiang to visit my grandparents just a month ago, and it seems that covid has pretty much obliterated all the police in the area. when I visited in 2019, the highway security checkpoints were almost like clearing international airport security and customs, but now you don't even have to get out your vehicle. there are also way less police everywhere and the CCP seems to be taking a different turn with the region, tourism. the flight I was on from Beijing to urumqi was over 90% tourist groups and so many cities in xinjiang have been transformed into tourist hotspots.

When the US and its western allies keep on spreading the misinformation, propaganda, about the genocidal campaign against the nation’s ethnic Uyghur population is a BIG FAT lie. It has been known, often, those videos from those so-called investigation journalists and often disguises as a tourist were staged the interview and paid to the person or persons who interviewed and put in the videos. So that the investigation journalists got exactly what they wanted in order to support their biased one-sided reporting journalism. Often the journalists would paid the interviewer from $500 to $1000 Renminbi; if that person in the video can show more emotional then would received more money. The whole damn video interview was staged and paid for by the journalist. Fact in point if there is really a genocidal campaign against the nation’s ethnic Uyghur population in Xinjiang, then how the hell you can explain the fact in the decade to 2020, the population of China’s ethnic minorities grew 10.3 per cent, while the Han majority expanded at just below 5 per cent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Last year, Han people accounted for 91 per cent of China’s 1.412 billion people. In any genocidal campaign the population should always keep on reducing and eventually down to a very significant in size or even down to nothing at all. As in the US, the Native American Indian was genocides by the US government during over two hundred years ago. The total American India tribes were reduced from several thousands to only few hundreds as nowadays. And this is what we called the genocidal campaign by the U S government to the Native American Indians. If you believe those video made by those investigating journalists you might as well believe that is a $3 US dollars bill in the US currency.

They can very easily find out who that man was, by process of elimination. They can get those answers out of the small handful of Uighurs who were on board, either through intimidation or torture.

Any Chinese who thinks this is right should accept that their own children should be locked up in a so-called kindergarten where they are forced to sing pro CCP songs and praise the regime non-stop. There are even locks at the doors preventing anybody from gping in or out including these children's parents who might want to pick up their children after 'class'. Talking about parents, have you guys noticed they are nowhere to be seen and these children never go out? It's perhaps because it's not a kindergarten but it's actually a re-education camp thus a damning evidence ethnic cleansing is taking place in Xinjiang and the Communist Party is responsible for it. I just want to know if a single Chinese here would accept his own children to be treated this way? After all, you!re claiming Uyghurs are Chinese so I don't see why Han Chinese children should be treated differently if as a Chinese you condone such a pratice.

I don't think China has a problem with ethnic minorities. The problem is with religion, especially Islam, which is simply incompatible with the communist party and with the main population. The Islamic religion has the problem of inability for muslims to merge with other people through marriage without others converting to Islam. This necessarily means that, through long time, either Islam takes over the country/region, or is taken out by force. Any third option of coexistence is simply temporary and hoping it lasts is delusional. This can already be seen in European nations that have serious conflicts between muslims and the secular society. Without dramatic policy changes, most European democracies will eventually be voted to become Islamic nations practicing Islamic laws due to demographic changes in a few decades.

We never encountered any trouble there because we are Han Chinese, and we were truly there to travel. But I couldn't help but imagine how I'd be treated if I was Uyghur. At the time I had no idea what was going on expect that people were taken away from their homes and detained. We were only taken to places for tourists, and I never heard a world of compliant from the Uyghurs we encountered. Now that I look back, I realized they were forced to shut their mouth and act like everything is fine. While their family members were suffering, communities broke apart, and culture killed. The scale of the issue is so much bigger than I could ever imagine. Free the Uyghurs, no one is free until all of us are free.

If they don’t want them in their country so bad and believe they’re a threat, why not allow them to leave in peace? Why rip families apart when they try to leave? I’m sure they’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars to run these camps, if they don’t want to to let them go simply out of decency, why don’t they let them go for the financial reasoning?

And what make me question the reliability of those people that did the interview is at 16:35 , that woman stated they give her letter stated she is terrorist, but they didn't even show us the content or a peek of that letter, isn't that supposed to be use as solid prove for their argument? And at 23:31 , the girl said 培訓(pei xun), which mean training, but the English subtitle wrote detainess. This video is full of weird play/manipulation/presentation.

Whether or not others still choose to be associated with that person after learning what they said 10 years prior is based upon how apparent that change in their character is. Usually if someone is fired or reprimanded it is because they deflect the outrage by pointing out how long ago it was said instead taking accountability. What someone said 10 years prior may be indicative of their current views especially if they’re currently using dog whistle rhetoric, & being associated with people that substantiate the idea that they may still hold such views. Perfect example is Justin Bieber, it was revealed that he has said racist things when he was a teenager. Although there is a certain segment of the population that is outraged, it has not seriously effected his brand because he immediately took accountability & apologized.
