Open You Eyes!!! The Chinese government has committed a series of ongoing human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minorities in Xinjiang that is often characterized as genocide. Since 2014, the Chinese government, under the administration of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary Xi Jinping, has pursued policies that incarcerated more than an estimated one million Turkic Muslims in internment camps without any legal process. This is the largest-scale detention of ethnic and religious minorities since World War II. Experts estimate that, since 2017, some sixteen thousand mosques have been razed or damaged, and hundreds of thousands of children have been forcibly separated from their parents and sent to boarding schools.

I have been in China since 2004 and have only left once for a 10 day vacation in the Philippines back in 2014. Been teaching English in a few schools but spent the last 11 yrs at one school in Guangdong. Love the country, love the people, love the safety and love the freedom to do things here that I can't do in my own country, England. Now retired, by Chinese rules, living in Nanning and have a 3 year spouse visa. I have seen over the years , since 2003, my first visit, how Nanning has changed infrastructure and environment wise. Used to be a bit run down and dirty but now it has a metro system, improved highways and roads and many green places to walk around. More sports facilities and social amenities. Not planning on leaving anytime soon.

Wonderful interview. I like that you also asked sensitive questions about how he’s treated for his colour and he gave the very candid answer that he experienced it when he first came 22 years ago but it’s no longer an event. My own experience when i first visited China in the mid 1990s is that this wasn’t so much racism as it was wariness with the outside world at a time when life of abundance was still rare, especially after having been an insular state since the end of WW2. Again, well done Blessy; keep up the good work.

'sensitive questions about how he’s treated for his colour ' it's not sensitive in China, people judge you race based on your behavior, China had no racism towards any race, and stop instigating this topic. black and white are never part of Chinese, and why do you have to force your racial relations to Chinese?

Open You Eyes!!! The Chinese government has committed a series of ongoing human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minorities in Xinjiang that is often characterized as genocide. Since 2014, the Chinese government, under the administration of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary Xi Jinping, has pursued policies that incarcerated more than an estimated one million Turkic Muslims in internment camps without any legal process. This is the largest-scale detention of ethnic and religious minorities since World War II. Experts estimate that, since 2017, some sixteen thousand mosques have been razed or damaged, and hundreds of thousands of children have been forcibly separated from their parents and sent to boarding schools

The Chinese are not racist. China is the most inclusive nation. Otherwise, how could the 56 ethnic groups live together harmoniously for thousands of years! Most of the older generation, especially the rural people, although they are not familiar with foreign culture, they are more culturally confident than the younger generation, so they don't like some young people to care about western countries to China’s malicious and distorted comments, and believes that foreigners who come to China must abide by China's rules and cannot do whatever they want, like past theirs have a traditional imperialist hegemony and colonial mentality! But now many Chinese young man have more cultural self-confidence ,and Shanghai people should also keep up with the pace! 😏

What a lucky guy you are to be able to live in China for such a long time. Shanghai is definitely a very cosmopolitan city, very safe, very clean, and very vibrant, and a city that never sleep. Only those who had live in China will eventually come to love the place. Sad for those who learned the negative about China from the media. To those, make an effort to come to China and learn about the place , and see for your self the real China.
