Chilli Pepper Q&A, Reaper World Record and Barneys Pumpkin Seed Addiction (CC Podcast Ep. 6)

Ойын-сауық

In this episode I am joined by Mrs ChilliChump! I give behind-the-scenes insights into my chilli growing and KZread channel.
We discuss our dog Barney's quirky habits, like his love of pumpkin seeds and morning cuddles.
I share some interesting chilli articles, including a man who ate 135 Carolina Reapers to break a world record and the Sriracha shortage causing price gouging.
Caroline asks me questions from listeners, covering topics like my most popular KZread videos, pot sizes for growing chillies, dealing with pests, and freeze drying chillies.
I also provide advice for starting a KZread channel. We talk about some of the most rewarding interactions I've had with viewers.

Not speaking for anyone but myself. I would absolutely listen/watch very long podcasts as long as there’s substance. You clearly have a ton of knowledge to lend and I’d love to learn it all.

You have got me going on the chili train now. Been growing chillies for many years in SA but more actively here in Argentina where I now live for the last 18 years. I grow outside and have some plants that is more than 5 years old. Now to get seed of the other varieties..... Good stuff!!

Enjoyable conversation Shaun and Caroline! If fact, very welcoming to see Caroline taking part so freely. Only thing missing was Barney up on the table with his treats LOL. A question for your two to consider, what would one grow to compliment the growing style of the other? That could be an interesting response. Thank you both on winter's first weekend of the 23/24 winter season! -Bob...

Great video. I got my Dad growing chilli's in his greenhouse this year from a couple of seedlings I provided him with from the Sugar Rush Stripey seeds I got from you. He's 89 in a couple of days. He got a great crop and I've converted them into Chilli jam for him which both he and my Mum love. It's not just the youngsters you've had an impression on!

French Marigold is good for detering root knot nematodes. It's toxic to them in warmer regions.

big pots big plants is a dunning kruger syndrome suffering "organic" farmers credo and mostly only applicable to dry amendments slow release methods. U can grow +4m meters of Tomatoes, Cucumbers or Capsiciums in little less than 12l of substrate for 2 plants. Actually a slab of coco or rockwool is like 1m x 15cm * 7.m cm plus the block on top do the math. Ofc this means u use mineral - hydroponic fertigation. The point is that u dont get bigger yields in organic container gardening by more root space but by an increased rhizopshere for the mineralization processes and mutalistic-communalistic microbiome. I usally reach maximium yields around 7l in coco and see adverse effects from there on. Why? Because drybacks and fertigations intervalls will be less generative steering.
