I feel your pain mom. My son was normal up until 18 months and we got that same diagnosis. Nevertheless, he's now talking almost perfect and is thriving beyond belief. Just keep praying and leave it to God in heaven

@@orlayamorris4057 thanks my friend. He was talking vet well up to 18 months after the diagnosis. He's almost 8 years old now. Is very important to feed him right because food plays a valuable part in their development. I also give him an all natural CBD oil which is loaded with cannabinoids. Most importantly God in heaven stepped in and gave him another chance at life

This is such an important issue to highlight especially within the Caribbean space. Prayers for the mom and dad that the load of this journey becomes lighter.
I can relate to what you are going through. I am a mother of an eight year old autistic girl. She was born severely premature. She is also non verbal. My worst experience was when I registered her at a private school. After three weeks, they told me that they couldn't accommodate her. I cried bitterly. Luckily, for covid, I have been working from home. I am now able to assist her. She is now saying a few words and identifying letters and numbers. I wish that there were more facilities here in Jamaica to accommodate children who are autistic. People also need to be educated about autism which will prevent them from referring to these children as rude. I love my daughter so much. She is my life.

What the father said is so important. Attitudes towards disability needs to change and we need to make accomodations for people with disabilities and stop expecting them to conform to ableist ideals.
I think In Jamaica people aren’t empathetic to people with disabilities.. it’s okay mommy hopefully he gets better with age and therapy

God is in control my dear....am praying for you and your family.
God Bless her and her child.. She really shared alot and brought great insight on Autism.
I empathize with Ms. Pitter, because I know how difficult it must be for her. My nephew is 4 and is autistic and is also non verbal, so I know some of the challenges that a parent goes through. I appreciate the space that the media has been providing lately for attention to be given to the topic, but I believe much more can be done. I am deeply hurt to see how insensitive and intolerant our society is, towards persons with disabilities. More of these businesses need to be called out, as their callous attitude and policies toward persons with special need, must be addressed expidetiously. I pray your strength mommy and laud your courage for opening up to share about Aiden. He is a blessing and I pray that the Lord will give you wisdom to raise him into the man he will grow to become. #hatsofftomomswithautistickids
I feel you hun. My son regressed after his 2nd birthday. All word stopped! His a picky eater...he only wants ramen noodles, onion rings, chips, applesauce and a few French fries occasionally. My son was diagnosed with ASD April 28th. His 3 years old not and has about 4 words..and does respond to his name...I pray every night that God above will give him his language & speech back soon. So, I will be able to have little conversations with him 😩
This is heartbreaking for any mother to have to deal with your child in this situation and then to get a slap in the face from such a well known entity like Devon house why would they not be knowledgeable in this field 😢😞 so sad smh .

Awww I would love for him to play with my nephew who's 4 years old... he autistic too but I love him soooo much
My 12 yr old daughter has autism. I know what it feel like to be overwhelmed and just break down in a public area. Be encouraged, It WILL get better. Trust the process and EXPECT it to get better. It’s so sad to have to deal with a child with disability in Jamaica 😞. JCPD does a little to help, but Jamaica on a whole need a lot more awareness.
Mommy I hear you loud and clear. Ask God for wisdom for this situation. He answers prayers. Please ah begging you. Seek God, he knows best. I feel your pain.
Thanks to the Gleaner and Mom for sharing this, more people need to know about Autism/disabilities.....Mom thanks fot sharing so honestly ❤

She highlighted some key important facts am a single mother to an Autistic 19yr old, when we are through dealing with them all our energy is used up we have no tolerance or patience to deal with anyone else...i myself had to fight with some popular restaurants, transportations, alot of governments institutions sighs its sad sad sad but over time Maurice learn as well as myself....its tough thou the comments people makes but i forgive them because they dont know better, these persons or such sweet souls genuine and pure...
I can relate to the unsupported nature of the Jamaican culture with the disabled. The very side walks are not made to accommodate the disabled because the light post are planted in the middle of the side walk. This makes it difficult for the blind or people with wheel chairs. It is a very uncaring society and my son who is dyslexic could not get any help from the education system so I had to migrate with him. If there is even a little avenue for help it is way too costly for the average person. When I ran with my son to the states I got more help for him in one month than I got in fifteen years in Jamaica. I regret every day that I did not make the move with my son when he was much younger..

My nephew is diagnosed with autism and I tell my sister who is a teacher to migrate. He is very brilliant but the system doesn't cater for him. Sigh
You're not alone mom, I can relate to every single word you've mentioned. Aaden is adorable 😍 keep the faith you're a super mom. ❤ My son regressed at age two, he literally stop talking, now he's 7 yrs and he started saying alot of words again, he's at a repetitive stage at the moment. Don't give up just pray, that's all I know 🙏 I truly believe Aaden will speak. My son still pull me if he's in need of anything.

Keep talking to your son. Explain everything to him. Feed any curiosity he shows. Read to him, relate what you, read to anything that is related in real life. Don't just leave him with a tablet or book, take an active part in these things.
All those thing that you experience I have gone through it and my child hasn't been fully evaluated... I just have to pray and be patience.
I am going through the same thing
That's how it is in Jamaica, people are very ignorant towards disableties in the UK u would get the best support
You are in my prayers god is on time god
He is such a handsome young man 🤗💙👏
Aiden 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I have son who is disabled he live in a facility, the reason why he live there because person don't understand. My son can talk but he need someone to help him. I live over sea. My lady God will give u long life and strength to take care of him..my is 40 years old.
😭 We have to see to it that we do not allow Covid-19 make us become inhumane. Shame on that business owner of the ice cream business.
I am going thru this right now
Mommy, I think you should try to massage his scalp randomly while he’s relaxed with you (playing on the tablet/ watching TV). Just barely move your fingers around his scalp... It may help with the hairstyle
I know exactly what they’re going through cause I’m going through it right now.
Children with special needs take a lot out of theirs parents, America 🇺🇸 has a lot of programs for children like him, you have to have a lot of patience to deal with them dear mother 👏
Jesus christ is not dead, don't give up, continue to bring him b4 God in prayer, he say in your mouth and in your heart the word of faith.
You need the child lead for him, don't want bruises are damage his wrist especially u said he's strong. He so cute, autistic ppl are very loving continue showing love he will always be lovely, keep praying also very important. It breaks my heart how Jamaicans are very insensitive about people with this condition they are human. This child should not be forced to wear mask an should be allowed entry everywhere without one. SHAME ON U UR ICECREAM SHOULD STOP SELLING UNTIL YOU APOLOGISE TO THIS FAMILY SHAME
When a lady is pregnant 🤰 doesn't know what kind of child you might bring forth 👏
I have a brother thats older than me(23 years old) and let me tell you people find it cute when their young but when they get older they people treat them with disgust. Its so hard to get proper help and care for him. Our father is absent and our mother just passed away so God knows I'd like to find someone to help him.

Stop give him sweets or too much sugar. My son only eat organic food and he only drinks water. He eats nothing sweet like candy, cookies, no fast food like pizza, fries nor burger. Diet is key when it comes to kids on the spectrum

Jamaican population isn't sensitive about various forms of disabilities.... they're not equipped, can't really blame no one but the Goverment. Lack of knowledge to such situation equates to ignorance....if u have one foot you'll automatically be called "onie or cripplez" you'll be given a name according to your disability which is a fun factor to Jamaicans...it's a shame.

I live in the states and I’m in the medical field and I’m telling you that the vaccine did it to him if you noticed he was perfectly fine before so why all of a sudden he’s that way. You’re young please do your research because the doctors sure don’t, don’t be so sensitive I know of 2 people very close to my family that has children who was perfectly fine until the got the shots also there was a huge debate here about the vaccine. I feel your mom’s pain because I live her experience because I’m around those situations a lot and sometimes people are not very kind. Take care of yourself and also your should continue to seek treatment for him.
