I grew up in SE Kansas, and this is almost excatly how my Grandmother made chicken n noodles. The only major diference is when she rolled the dough out flat she would then fold it up 3 times in a Z pattern before cutting it with a knife. Well that, and she didn't dance around as much when she tasted them. 😁

Your review on The Field Company cast iron skillet sold me, so I ordered a #8 skillet from them. It arrived in perfect condition. The customer service is responsive and rapid. Following their recommendation, I sautéed some onions. But even when I used low heat there was an area of the pan where the onions burned and left a thick black residue that I could not scrape off using my Bamboo Spatula. Not the pan’s fault. It was operator error. Me. I have an electric stove with coil burners. After washing my Field skillet. I put it on the coil burner and used a digital heat gun thermometer to monitor how the heat distributed in the skillet as it heated up. It was amazing how unevenly the electric coil burner heated. Now I am more familiar with my cooking tools and can compensate by cooking ‘low and slow’ while periodically rotating my skillet on the burner. Not only does the skillet need to be seasoned. But I learned the operator must be seasoned along with the skillet by learning how his cooking tools behave. The Field #8 Cast Iron skillet performs beautifully. I ended up using 220 grit sandpaper to hand-sand the entire floor and the radius of the skillet down to bare metal. But I did not touch the walls because they were seasoned perfectly and I saw no need to disturb them. Now I am re-seasoning my Field skillet on my stove top. Yep, I figured out how to use this method and it works excellently. But how to do it is a different story. And this post is too long already.

Greeting from Germany. I put a whole small chicken in the pot with the vegetables an let it cook for a least 90 Minutes (when there's a layer of fat on top of the water, ist mostly done), than take it out and seperate the meat from bone and some fat skin to put it back in the Soup. But I will try to recook your noodles, just used premade. An alternative my granny showed me, was to put sliced (thin) pancakes in the soup right before beeing served.

This is basically what my wife and I do for our chicken noodle soup however, we have one twist to help thicken up the broth. We add cream cheese. Give it a try it’ll give your soups a hearty ness you wouldn’t believe. We have a big family so we add a whole package, for Kent’s size of pot I would go with 1/2 to 2/3.

My grandma, aunt, and mom dusted the top of the dough with flour, then rolled the dough up like a jelly roll and then cut the rolled up dough with a sharp knife, then tossed them with their fingers to unroll them. I got really good at the cutting and tossing when I was a kid,. Mostly we made Chicken and Noodles instead of Chicken Noodle soup. The extra flour on the noodles thickened the broth in the chicken and noodles, then we'd put a big serving of mashed potatoes on a plate, make a well in the middle of the mashed potatoes, fill that up with chicken and noodles, add a bit extra so the chicken, noodles, and thickened broth completely covered the mashed potatoes and dived in.

A winter time favorite. Thanks to Kent and Shannon for providing entertainment at a time when many things are not entertaining. I'm sure the two of you have opinions on the current state of affairs with this great country but you guys thankfully steer clear of politics and provide an alternative to the chaos we are bombarded with everyday. Thanks for being you...God Bless 🇺🇲🤠🇺🇲

A trick I discovered for making chicken noodle soup. Take all the leftover fried chicken from the night before and boil it in a deep pot of water breading and all. You can use the leftover bones as well. After 20 min of rapid boiling, fish out the bones and then remove any big chunks of meat and put the meat back in the pot. Then the broth it is good to go for the other ingredients.

Pro Tip from my Old World grandmother. - Save the clean dry yellow onion skins and put them in the stock for a nice golden color. One bay leaf is a good idea also.

Looks lairipen good. I use to help my mom make the noodles for just chicken and noodles. We'd roll them out thin and the roll the dough in and long string and then cut with a knife . Gather them up and seperate. That was all was my job. Just love them and going to make this. Thank you Kent and Shannon......
