Whether it's the Mustang,Camaro, or the Challenger V6 muscle cars haven't had the best overall reputation in the car scene. The V6 models were always incredibly slow, sounded terrible, and weren't the best value for the money. However before the V6 version on the Chevrolet Camaro was finally discontinued it has over 300HP from the crank and was quite a bit cheaper than it's big brother the Camaro SS. This Camaro RS has full bolt ons, E85, and a few other bits to give it that extra punch the car really needs. So is the V6 Camaro as tragic as we all want to think? Let's go for a drive and find out. Thanks for watching and new uploads every Tuesday,Thursday, and Saturday!

I’d rather go for a Z. Hell even a used e36/e46 bmw. Considering the price and what you get. But if you can handle all the criticism that goes along with the v6 mustang and camaro, sure. But it has the Honda Civic stigma, at least where I live.

To me the point of v6 muscle cars is to sell people a good looking and reliable daily driver for a reasonable price. Not all people are car people and not everyone cares about a more powerful engine. But a good looking car is something that most people will enjoy.

The cheaper and more plentiful series of most platforms supports the higher up trim levels. As in 6,000 v6s, 4,000 v8s, 1,300 supercharged v8s. Those numbers are horribly off but you get the idea.

I had a 1978 Trans Am with a 400 6.6 V-8 that made only 190 HP. My 2017 Mustang V-6 would drive circles around that car. Don't forget that the Camaro V-8 is direct injection engine. And it may require an oil catch can to keep the valves carbon free. Kind of sad in this day and age. You have to mod a new motor to protect it. Meanwhile, Ford now puts plastic oil and transmission pans on the 5.0.

Just because you have a v6 (like me lol) doesn’t mean your car isn’t fast or fun. The ss is faster and sounds better. But you could say that the ss is crap compared to the supercharged zl1. Does that make the ss a bad car? Heck no. Well the ss being better than the v6 doesn’t make the v6 a bad car either. It’s still much faster than most cars on the road.

I for one would love to own an rs Camaro because I love the sound this one makes and to be honest they're not even that slow. They will keep up or almost keep up with cars that a normal person would consider to be a fast car, such as a g35 or an is350. "What Was the Point of V6 Muscle Cars?" The problem isn't the question, it's the premise. Camaro (and Mustang/Challenger), are not muscle cars, they are pony cars. Pony cars have always had a V6 (or even 4 cyl) option. Muscle cars by definition, have muscle. V8 pony cars can be called/considered muscle cars, but it's really more of an overlap than anything. Remember, the birth of muscle cars (arguably, but most agreed upon) was with the 1964 Pontiac GTO, because it was basically a package on the Tempest. The "muscle" version

V6 Camaros are fun as hell on sand clay roads. I was power sliding and drifting before I even knew what drifting was at 16. I honed in my racing skills in my 87 V6 5Speed Camaro. It was carbureted with headers. It would not blow up and I drove it HARD af.

To me, the RS engine makes power up top (high revving) and that makes it extremely fun to rev out. This is the appeal with the J35Y2 Accord V6 6MT as well. It obviously doesn't have V8 brake torque, but that's not the point of this engine! You're supposed to rev this out on a canyon road.

I've got a 2012 Ford mustang with the 3.7 V-6. It has dual exhaust, real dual exhaust. By the way and it sounds great! I love the 6-speed manual. It is great fun to drive. Handles well and it is quick. Great mileage and cheap insurance. What's not to like. Mine is red candy color with a black interior. Exactly what I wanted. It was a low mileage car when I got it last year. I drive it almost every day and have had very few problems with it.

So now it’s 8 years later and I was lucky enough to be able to afford a new GT350 last fall. It’s everything the reviews say - an absolutely awesome driving experience. I drive it almost daily (weather permitting). But I also still drive the V6 about as much. It can’t compare to the GT350 but it’s still fun.

V6 works for the average person who wants a little more power bit wont use the full potential of a v8. Save a few bucks and a bit of fuel and still have a pretty decent ride. I hope they keep both around instead of turbos on the 4 cylinder
