Chest of Antique Toys (Original Music)

Фильм және анимация

This is a rearrangement of this piece I made last year: • A Distant Voice OST
I've named it 'Chest of Antique Toys' for no better reason than it feels right. The picture is of a musty attic, for the same reason.
I'm currently in the stage of my music-making journey where I have the drive to learn more interesting music theory, but then feel the need to immediately put to use what I've learned- which does not necessarily make the resultant music better. It faces me with the risk of sounding 'overdesigned' for its own sake, until I develop the musical maturity to know when simplicity is best.
This piece is the first time that my consciously utilizing more theory has actually helped me instead of hindered me. As a practice exercise, I set myself a few conditions to meet, like using a less common mode (phrygian), not sticking so closely to four/eight bar phrases, and modulating to other keys a couple times. Writing the piece to meet these goals came more naturally this time, instead of feeling like I was needing to shoehorn anything.

Correct, it’s the music I made for the Mangle showcase. I wanted to post it on its own without being covered up by the sound effects, because I think it came out quite well and is worth being a standalone piece.

This definetly has a nostalgic, sort of spooky feel to it! Great job!! Sounds like something that would play during a horror movie flashback scene, to make you feel nice but slightly on edge, too.

I'm glad to hear that, as you put it, consciously utilizing more music theory actually helped you this time instead of being a hindrance. I personally don't know anything about music theory though, so I don't really have a point of reference one way or another. All I know is that your music sounds good and that the title and picture are indeed fitting.

Please, you have a great talent. You could seriously collaborate and work on Scott Cawton movies and other franchises like Five Nights at Candy's and/or Popgoes since there is a lot of talk about the Fazbear fanverse.
