Fabi, Naka, Nepo - current second, third and forth place in the world, each a legend in their own right, share second place, just half a point behind Gukesh. Congrats to the youngster! He was pressing the whole tournament, so totally deserved. Funnily, among the top four, only Naka had won once against Fabi. Generally though, they drew each other and farmed the bottom four

hope to see Ian again in Candidates 2026 and become the world champion someday. I have been supported for him since 2020 but this time Gukesh deserves to win. Ian made 2 draws against Abasov which he could play more agressively to find a win. He couldn't believe that Alireza threw a whole point for Gukesh, me either

This was a devastating candidates, this game in particular, was one of the best games of chess in the entire tournament but watching them play out the painstaking queen and pawn endgame and eventually agree to a draw just seemed so empty they both just seemed dead inside - compared to Hikaru who was never in the driver seat and had already come to terms with the fact that he wasnt likely to win - have to feel happy for Gukesh though, astonishing what a 17 year old was able to do in this field (yes his opponents didnt really play as well as they did in some other games, but he didnt miss a single opportunity besides game 6)
