Their strategy is to put players on lower wages and keep the wages low by handing out 8 year contracts. A good striker wouldn't agree to that and would cost too much money. So they're going after these younger players with potential because they are cheaper. Chelsea's owners come from the finance world, they're looking at it from a financial point of view and what's best for cost/revenue, not from a football point of view. They want the team to be good obviously, to increase the team's valuation and tap into different media deals. But they also want to keep costs low with little debt so that they can flip the club for a profit down the line. It's the only reason a PE company like Clearlake would buy the team. That's literally their business model.

Its the business model of someone who doesn't understand the first thing about football... For every 1 young prospect who fully realises their potential, there are SO MANY MORE that plateau quickly & in many cases (e.g. sancho...) actually regress lol. And that is just based on talent/performance too, that doesn't even get into other potential issues such as persistent or major injuries or off-field issues/discipline that can also derail a young player's career. Not only that... but these are also all potential concerns if you just buy 3 or 4 young players. Chelsea have compounded the red flags by buying DOZENS of young prospects. The fact that there are so many of them, only increases the odds that a lot of these won't work out given they're all competing for playing time with each other. This is an absolute ticking time bomb that Boehly has set up. It is such an incredibly stupid "business model". When intelligently run clubs like Brighton, City, Liverpool do their transfer business, they scout players (especially younger players) relentlessly and weigh up so many factors before making a decision on whether they are a safe bet. There is just absolutely no way Chelsea are doing anywhere NEAR the same level of due diligence whilst also managing to buy 30 players in just over a year

It feels like Chelsea watched KZread clips and decided to buy some of the players they got.

Giving kids 7 and 8 year contracts so they have no chance to sell them either. They bought at too high a price too often.

We have Maatsen, Madueke, Palmer, Mudryk, Washington.. Poch plays Chilly on the left wing and only 2 attacking players. We have the options. Poch needs to re-evaluate his ideas. The board have done fantastic work and there's been nothing scattergun about this summer's business. We're not expecting the league title, but we do expect our manager to play Colwill as a CB not a LB, Chilly as a LB, not a wide forward, Enzo as a deep playmaker, not a 10, etc etc. If Poch won't play them in their natural positions he'll get himself sacked.

How can he improve if he gets no game time, and how can he build any confidence if he's watching a left back play in his position? Regardless, there are other options and Poch is playing a defender on the wing who contributes nothing in that position. Worse still, Chilwell is a quality left back and so Chelsea are also actually losing his qualities while also lacking a third attacker. It's hurting the team in multiple ways.

(lukaku) Liverpool i'm sure would HAPPILY do a 300 million deal with Chelsea for a 31 year old Salah (FSG literally paid that same amount to buy the whole club). We needed defenders… we signed them.. we needed midfielders… we signed them. All Chelsea fans wanted Jorginho out… Havertz out … mount out… they got rid and replaced them. Reece James needed a replacement so we signed Gusto… Chelsea have planned pretty well. It’s a project full of young players… people expect these 20-22 year olds to be at their peak right now which is ridiculous.

Exactly what i was thinking, Chelsea board spending 1 billion pounds and i cannot rate nicolas jackson and robert sanchez high. Nicolas jackson can improve given time but i cannot rate him high if i compare him with jonathan david. The board should make a list of players they want, rate them and buy the players they want. Nicolas jackson had a good first season with villareal scoring 12 goals. Jonathan david has been scoring goals for lille in three seasons and last season he scored 24 goals the highest he has scored for lille in a season. The board buying young players and giving them more than five years contracts to sign without a strategy is laughable. James maddison would have been a good signing but the board decided not to sign him because of his age.

Chelsea will be a mid table side this season at best. Absolutely hilarious!! lol

Andy speaks for so many of us! Having watched so many great Chelsea teams over the last 40 years which always had a top keeper and striker as part of a strong spine, I just don't get what business Boehly and his (so-called) recruiters are thinking??? They should've ignored their own < 26-year-old rule and bought Kane, Rice, Maddison, Ward-Prowse, and GK Martinez in this window.

My biggest disappointment is how somebody at Chelsea thought it be a great idea to give Caicedo the retired number 25 jersey. It was retired for a reason, worn by the greatest player to grace Stamford Bridge, ZOLA.

We don’t really know who suggests players or who takes the decisions but it still seems to be TODD as the chaos now is same as last year. We have bought many young players but no experience and no proven quality. Players are bought on a wing and a prayer , hoping they might do well. Every player over £50m has been a waste of Money with proven alternatives available for half the price. We have exchanged our second rate goalkeeper for a third rate goalkeeper, and sold all of our strikers without bringing in any replacements. It would be hard to invent a strategy as crazy as this adventure, unless the business is buying and selling players. But even that doesn’t seem viable with losses incurred on every sale apart from academy players who cost nothing

Osimhen of course is great and is a dream but realistic? Not sure. I really like Toney, but that ban really threw a curveball. I think Jackson will be good, but needs time. He is a great CF from his runs and strength. He can battle in the EPL.

Not for sale. Napoli just bought him last summer for 100m. So he's got 4 or 5 years left on his contract. To even get Napoli to consider they'd have to offer 200m. Otherwise it's not worth it.

Completely agree we needed a striker and I have no idea why we spent 2 months chasing caicedo instead of osimhen? I genuinely wanted lavia more for the price, admittedly when Liverpool agreed a fee it hurt and I wanted caicedo then, but the time they spent was so wasted given that he was never going to change our fortunes and being played next to Gallagher just doesn’t even make sense. The point I disagree with however is Mudryk. You can see the boy has bags of talent, and EVERY single time he steps onto the pitch every single pair of eyes is on him expecting him to do something amazing, he’s 21 years old, he needs to be given time to become the player he could be, he needs support from the fans players and coaches to make him feel comfortable, him playing 20/30 minutes every other game isn’t going to develop him at all. I trust poch and I do believe that chelsea will be back at the top, but as fans we need to stop thinking it’s gonna happen next week it really isn’t, a respectable season for us this season is probably 8/9th ECL for next season and turn our full attention to winning it, I would love to see us challenge for a trophy this season even the carabao cup but I don’t think the depth is there just yet given that the £1bn spent was all on youth players pretty much. Atleast by 2030 we SHOULD be winning things regularly again 😬😂

Julian Alvarez would have been perfect, already been getting used to the premier league, is dynamic striker that does more than just score tap ins, has a personal and professional relationship with Enzo bc they played together at river plate (where they literally won every thing together) and that connection is there for the Argentina national team.

Roman abramovich had a strategy when he bought Chelsea in June 2003. He asked Mourinho the striker he would want him to sign and Mourinho responded he would like him to sign Didier drogba. Didier drogba came to the club and he became a legend. Todd boehly has no strategy. Buying young players and giving them more than 5 years contracts to sign. Chelsea still managed to spend that much money on their players and their biggest weakness in the team is still the striker position and spent a lot of money on Moises Caicedo overpaid on him and also have spent a lot of money on a bunch of unproven players which makes no sense to me.' He may have had just one elite season in his career, but I'm confused as to why Chelsea didn't go after Victor Osimhen. Chelsea have no goalscoring weapons in the team and Napoli value him at 150 million and he's very expensive but this is a guy who scored 31 goals for Napoli last season 26 of them in Serie A helping them win the league and has started the season with 3 goals in 3 games, all the big clubs wanted to sign him, but couldn't because he was too expensive, Chelsea are getting players left right and center but are still lacking a goal-scorer and if Todd Boehly was really serious about this Chelsea project they could've tried to sign Victor Osimhen rather than continue getting all these players with no experience. Last season yes it was one good season, but he's proven and has experience at this level both domestically and in the champions league and he's only 24 in his peak years who's gonna continue scoring goals and that's the player Chelsea were supposed to sign this summer. Christopher Nkunku is out for a couple of months and I have nothing against Nicolas Jackson, but you're asking him to lead the line when he's not proven and he's not good enough in front of goal.

We had the chance to offload Lukaku to Juventus and pay £35mip as well to get Vlahović but apparently the club doesn't think a guy who's young and scores 20 plus goals a season consistently would be good enough. Nobody can score a header at Chelsea and crosses just fly in the box to no avail and also Jackson's movement off the ball isn't as sneaky as Vlahović's who can do everything our attackers can't and that is to score,headers,long range first touch shots,free kicks.

Bohely will not last a decade nor half a decade at this club and he will put Chelsea in a very serious financial trouble one day with this idiotic reckless spending. Unfortunately we cant force him out, but the fans have the power not to visit Stamford Bridge and part with their money to watch something that they are not happy with. The Premier Lesgue is the American Premier League now, because of the ever growing influence of American owners taking over English clubs and disrespecting the history and culture of the clubs as well as the supporters.

Theyre all on 250k a week with no incentive to win. 8 year contracts so if they get terminated theyll be paid like kings. All different languages, different cultures, no experience in the prem, no experience playing with eachother its a joke, i doubt they even try in training theyre just turning up to get paid and take care of their families and focusing on their other business ventures… and theyll blame poch and fire him by christmas if theyre bottom half

1) Lukaku was during the Roman abramovich era nevertheless Chelsea performed and finished top 4 with tuchel as coach during the 2021 to 2022 season 2) It is Todd boehly and the board fault. Buying aubameyang and Nicolas Jackson who had a first good season at Villarreal scoring 12 goals instead of signing Jonathan David who in three seasons he has been scoring goals for lille and last season he scored 24 goals his highest for lille in a season. I understand osimhen price of 150 million is high nevertheless lille would sell Jonathan David for 60 million euros.

ffs how are people STILL saying Chelsea haven't bought a striker? we've brought in JACKSON + NKUNKU this season and BROJA looking like he could become a real threat. Nkunku going down early this year has been disasterous for Chelsea

They should say they haven't signed a DECENT STRIKER. If you think Jackson & Nkuku are good enough then you're going to be very disappointed.

I can rate nkunku high but Jackson I cannot rate him high. I still think the club should have signed Jonathan David. 150 Million for osimhen is high, lille price Jonathan David for 60 million euros.

Because Boehly and Co have an arrogance that they claim to know all about the English football game. They believe the strategy he's/they've used in America for the team he owns out there is a template for success. Someone needs to tell him OUR game is different and thats why Football is the biggest sport in the world and buying whatever he feels in quantity isn't the best way forward
