This is not even the Chelsea norm. Even Abramovich wouldn't dare to sack a manager until Chelsea were out of contention. The new ownership has experience owning sports teams. Todd Boelhy owns the LA Dodgers who have 1 world series victory as well as having won their division in the MLB in 6 of the last 7 years (and the one year in the last 7 where they didn't win their division they were a wild card entry into the playoffs). This is a man who has owned one of the top MLB teams of the last decade. And that experience would have related to his decisions. Yes, he has no experience owning an association football team, but he does understand things like team dynamics and dealing with managers. I imagine that the big issue was the fact taht the locker room was clearly terrible. Several players were upset and wanted to leave. Worse, Tuchel repeatedly failed to address the situation instead going out of his way to play favorites or even to demand that he get his player in Aubamayang rather than adjust his tactics and lineups to reward players in his locker room. I'd give the owners time to show what they are thinking. It is clear that the decision to get rid of Tuchel may not have been due to just the recent performance. I feel that the situation in the locker room drove this. In the US a locker room that is half as toxic as the Chelsea one is reported to be would drag a team down. US Owners today won't tolerate a toxic locker room. Usually that means getting rid of a problem player, but with Tuchel, it was the manager causing the problems.

@@Trev359 Manchester United isn't the best example. The brothers who own the team had no previous experience owning sports teams and made it clear from the outset that they purchased the team as an investment asset. They borrowed heavily to purchase Manchester United and then pulled from the cash flow to repay their loans. That is what has hurt the team. Todd Boehly and his co-investors own the LA Dodgers (MLB) as well as the LA Lakers (NBA) and have interests in other sports teams. I believe that Todd also is a part-owner of Cloud9, an esports franchise. This is a man who has a huge personal interest in sports and owning teams. He is not going to make the mistakes the Glazers have. Also you need to really take a deeper interest in all sports. Its true that at subtle levels the cultures of the many professional sports of the world are different, but things like team dynamics and morale are universal, and from what I can see its issues with that which drove Chelsea to sack Tuchel.

@@Trev359 Exactly! Additionally, in those sports, they have no relegation, fighting for Champions League spots, they don’t play in different competitions, and salary cap and transfer of players is curtailed to some extent. Those are just a few that pop in my head. In a nutshell, European football, especially the Premier League, is a different beast. I’m sure they’ll soon learn given for instance they’ve been having their pants pulled down for the amount of money they’ve been paying for their recent signings. Plus getting rid of footballing people in the club was a mistake, I think. I’m a fan of a different club, so this kind of distabilisation is good news for us. 😊

No, proper recruitment or technical heads to help in the footballing aspect of the club. Tuchel did shoot himself in the foot with some of his criticisms - he should've protected the team and gotten the players on his side but still way to early needed at least half a season to prove himself.

I believe that it was unfair to sack Tuchel. The team needs to take responsibility for their poor performances. They have started to play the way they used to under Conte - worrying more about possession instead of creating chances. A team cannot win without taking strikes at goal. Chelsea has failed to put in crosses consistently nevermind taking shots at goal. Tuchels departure only invites more uncertainty and instability. As a Chelsea fan, I am not happy.

Chelsea have recorded 5 Premier League titles, 6 FA Cups, 3 Carabao Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League trophies, and 2 UEFA Europa League trophies since 2000. The model has been to not tolerate failure for too long and to sack the manager when things start to go amiss. I suggest that things have been going amiss recently for Chelsea. Last night we were awful. Many of the players are shadows of their former selves. So I was not surprised with the news that Tuckel was sacked this morning.
