How'd they fire him, he won the lawsuit. Judge said he gets an equal share in making decisions about the band. I think it's hilarious that the three Robin, Tom and Rick had to shell out millions in a lawsuit and that's not including attorney fees.

If they didn't deserve it who really does? They are that good. New Years Eve was their San Diego gig pretty much every year for at least a decade that I know of. It's just how they rolled and that was cool. Studio albums are great but Budokan gained them followers they didn't have before. I remember the first time a friend got me to listen to them. Yep. Way overdue.

I saw them in concert at a local University in MD before radio stations really started playing their music. They were a part of my teen years along with Styx, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Rush. Looking back on those years, my biggest regret is not going to more concerts thinking "I'll see them next time they come to town". Ughh.

This band has got C-L-A-S-S. Saw them at a County Fair, at a Street Festival and Pine Knob/Detroit and will never forget Rick taking the time to recognize the greatness of his singer, Robin. @callyharley Reports stated it started over Bun and Zander not agreeing on the amount of shows they planned on doing in Vegas.. Bun wanted 100 and Zander wanted 50 because he wanted to take his child to kindergarten in the fall. Bun made a comment he didn't like Zander then forced him out by getting approval of the other 2 bandmates. It cost them plenty as Bun sued and settled for 25% of back royalties and future earnings plus he still has a say in the band. Several weeks before the Hall of fame appearance Rick said some nasty things about him but you would not know it on stage.

Cheap Trick's entire career has been writing infectious, effortless, catchy and fun rock that you can't get out of your head. People pass that up as frivolous or easy. Yeah, it's not, that's why there's 10,000 angsty, dissonant bands and just one or two bands a generation that write like Cheap Trick, or even can. Try it sometime....just try to write a "Surrender". Anyone can emote and play fast. Write an anthem that no one will ever forget.

I remember the buzz of Cheap Trick came on strong in my San Diego neighborhood. The year around1978 and I was around 12 years old. There must have been around 10 kids from my neighborhood who went to see them in concert at the Civic Center. My brother caught one of the many picks Rick flung out to the exalted audience. Leslie, the hot chick, on somebody’s shoulders. It was like the kids from the Sandlot go to their first good rock n roll concert. It was pre-teen bliss. I’ve been to a lot of concerts since then: The Who, The Stones, Elvis Costello, Wilco, to name a few. But I’ll always remember that Cheap Trick concert as one of the best. They are a great live band.

Robin's speech is one of the most sincere, humble, and moving of any in RRHF history; and well orated. Each of the members spoke kindly, and sincerly, there speeches were interesting and personable; and that they were all gracious, as well as congratulatory and/or complementary of so many others speaks volumes about them; it is definietly part of the readon for their longevity in the industry. Cheap Trick as a whole had always seemed like a band of really nice, be good, solid, hard working, and entertaining guys from Illinois, who loved music and wanted to share it with everyone. Such a unique and amazing group, from each band member, to their sound, and evey song. This is how its done, and its why they are so beloved.

If there was ever a band that created a name for themselves with sheer energy, extreme hard work and endurance, Cheap Trick would take the highest honors. From their very first album, the fans knew this was a fantastic band with an exceptional vocalist. Even though the music press at the time, and the music industry in general, couldn't deny their greatness, they never really supported this band. It was truly the raw talent of the band and the good taste and dedication of the fans that kept this band alive. If you were lucky enough to see them live in concert during the late 70s, then you can officially say that you got your ass rocked ... and experienced the true essence of Rock-&-Roll. Cheap Trick was indeed a 'motley crew, with two handsome guys, a zany clown and a cigar chomping perverted uncle, but together these guys rocked out in a frenzied, ferocious and furious abandon. Their chemistry was explosive. They came at a time when corporate rock was being created and controlled specifically for the money ... but Cheap Trick existed strictly for the music, and the fans knew this and appreciated this. There were many great bands in the late 70s, but in my humble opinion, Cheap Trick was by far the most respectable. Sure, they eventually had to cave in to "corporate rock" to stay afloat, but even then they still retained enough of their die-hard passion for blistering rock&roll to earn respect. Their true fans always understood this. Plus, even in the year of 2018, Robin Zander is still one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time.

when I think of Cheap Trick, I think of FUN...they evoke that word, better than any other band that I listen to. When you think of Cheap Trick, you think of running the streets with your best buddies..and getting in trouble with them...meeting them at a bar or poolhall or both...you think of all of you having had sex with one or two girls that ALL OF YOU KNOW, and nobody has a problem with that, because the girls didnt care, either. When you think of Cheap Trick, you think of how all of you grew up, eventually, and went your separate ways, before you figured out that the sum total of your crew, was better than any of you being apart. So, you ended up living in the same town...all of you went to each other's weddings..and on the weekends you still go to the same bars and pool halls, but you dont get in trouble anymore. You just hang out, listening to the band you grew up with..Cheap Trick.

Ughh.
There is no one who rocks a pink suit like Robin! Cheers to one of the greatest bands to come out of the 70"s! Hugz from V.A.
It's funny how Bun E looks way younger than the rest right now, when back in the day he used to look like their dad
This band has got C-L-A-S-S. Saw them at a County Fair, at a Street Festival and Pine Knob/Detroit and will never forget Rick taking the time to recognize the greatness of his singer, Robin. "Isn't he just the finest singer, what an amazing voice..." or something laudatory like that. All hail to a great rockin' band.

As a person hailing from Rockford, this both touched my heart and encouraged me to keep following my dreams! Thank you Cheap Trick, may God continue to bless you! :)

Yes, as a fan since 1979 I can imagine how u feel coming from a small city. Perth , Australia can claim the great Bon Scott and INXS but nobody going at the moment like u guys.

Killer story!
My dads first and favorite car was a Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. My earliest picture was of me and him with the car. Thank you Cheap Trick for reminding of that car. Surrender, wow what a classic like the car.

Robin is adorable Saw Cheap Trick on Saturday night in Pittsburgh with Rod Stewart..they were amazing!
when I think of Cheap Trick, I think of FUN...they evoke that word, better than any other band that I listen to.

I saw them in their early touring days, at the Santa Monica Civic Aud. What an epic concert. Their popularity catapulted and moved them to the larger arenas and followed them to the fabulous Forum shows. Love me some Cheap Trick.
Listening to their speeches was so inspiring, I'm gonna go pick up my guitar. Oh, I'll be 52 next month.
I remember I went to see cheap trick in 1979 in johnson city Tennessee, they were opening for kiss that night.and when cheap trick got finish playing ever one just about left, and not anyone stuck around to see or listen to the hear or see kiss play from what I hurd that night later at out big party at our connecting motel rooms.kiss fans were just little kids and there mothers watching them was all,the real rock n roll band was cheap trick that night.it was 40 years ago now, they had not been back from Japan very long when we herd there cheap trick Japanese tour alban.and it blew the door off of us here in Virginia and Tennessee to,and 40 years later I'll never forget it eather!!!!!
Kid Rock CRUSHED IT!!!!!!!
Peterson’s speech was great
It's a real pity it had to be Kid Rock of all people who introduced this real talent to the stage.

Who would play fart noise before someone important? Very wrong decision making.
