Isn't it lovely that only Neal thanked Steve for his contribution. Especially when he is the reason they are in the Hall of Fame or continued to be a band after 1977. Steve proved that he is a class act and the audience absolutely adored him. What a great phenomenally talented guy. He and Pat were standouts.

Steve, there's nobody that comes even compared to Steve. Steve was Steve this pisses me off. It really does you know. Journey is awesome! Great band. Great videos MTV the time you know. It is a collaborative effort that got them in. Without Herbie Herbert Steve Perry may have remained an unknown. And Steve Perry without Journey isn't as good. Without Journey there would probably be no Steve Perry

GALAXY USER1 N Journey was inducted because of their work in the late 70s, 80s, and mid 90s. Arnel has contributed to keeping the music alive but he had nothing to do with Journey's induction, and Arnel knows it. He appreciates his role.

Damn right, if it weren't for the road crew ... what a class act Steve is, to thank the original road crew and even go as far back as thanking the 3 people from the original fan club. See, these are the "little things" that aren't so little. He's a good guy. And, come on band members. You ALL KNOW Journey would've been a blip had it not been for Steve.

This man, he is so sensitive. I can see clearly, that he suffered so much. Even when he sang, he is sensitive. Thank you so much, for your voice, Mr Perry.

Steve Perry is just a BOSS, and a true gentleman in every sense of the word...class, class, class, oh, and arguably the greatest singer that ever walked the planet.....at least in the top 10.....thanks for your amazing music.

Steve Perry gave his vocal cords to Journey!! I'm happy to see that it was worth that great effort and that he has had this recognition!!

Great musicians in Journey but for me it would not have reached the heights it did without the incredible voice of Steve Perry.

Jesse Lee Son Nice try. Well, Schon/Cain sure as hell haven’t written any great songs since Steve Perry left-no major hits. Steve Perry is also a drummer and plays bass, and is also great at arranging songs and producing. He produced both Greatesr Hits Journey albums after leaving the band. He has a great ear too, in addition to the songwriting. Steve Perry’s solo work is really amazing while Cain’s and Schon’s solo albums suck or are very average. So, no Schon/Cain did not play a larger role in the songwriting process-total hyperbole. Cain is no songwriting genius keyboardist like David Paich.

You’re right you’re still here because of Arnel Pineda... almost forgotten...thanks to Steve Smith and Steve Perry for mentioning Arnel and acknowledging his part of keeping the band rolling..

I loved Steve Perry because he is so humble and down-to-earth Hall Of Famer singer! He did mentioned Arnel Pineda more time in his speech 👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍

broadstreet21 he told the band that he wouldn’t go back if they toured under the Journey name without him. He asked them not to crack the stone because he was definitely getting hip surgery, so blame Schon/Cain, especially Cain because he’s the one who talked Neil into replacing Steve and going on tour as Journey with Steve Augeri.

I have always loved Steve Perry's voice since I first heard it at age 13. It just stops you in your tracks, mesmerizing, nothing existed but that voice while singing. Steve Perry. 👏👏👏

Steve Perry put Journey on the map. His voice brought the music out. It's very unfortunate how he was treated to leave the band. Arnel knows the words. But he is not able to bring Perry's emotional voice to the songs. I'm happy to see Steve is sharing his voice once again. He is the best ever. Journey needs to look at themselves and see why they didn't keep Steve with just patience. Who's crying now.

When I saw Steve Perry walk up it brought tears to my eyes. Lets not forget Neal's epic guitar solos .....so melodic and musical......youve truly given us a gift.

Steve was a member of that original road crew. Herbie knew the drummer/singer was not working out and had Steve hired as a roadie with the intent to move him into the lead singer role. He has fond memories of being a roadie because his boss was of Portuguese decent as well.

@@janebeatty9472 This isn't true. Perry was never a roadie. Manager Herbie Herbert brought him on board with the story that he was roadie John Villanueva's Portuguese cousin. This was a try out and introduction without upsetting current lead singer Robert Fleishman, who was not working out. The introduction was successful and Perry was hired as lead singer. His thanks to his road crew were genuine, but not because he was ever one of them.

I watched that 2017 hall of fame induction speech again and I must say Mr Perry is one class act . Out of all the speeches his stood out because he mentioned everyone of his band mates. Steve Perry, wow! This has to be one of the classiest things to ever happen in Rock n Roll. Mr Perry, you Sir are an example for all to follow. I would’ve like to have heard you sing……but I get it.

Can you even believe the cheering when Steve Perry walked up there. Un-Real. I am just happy that they brought Steve with them. He is Journey. Even the language that he used was classy coming from him.

The lady at 16:12 is saying "without him, there wouldn't have been a Journey..." when Steve was at the mic ...so friggin true! Steve was the voice, heart and soul of Journey. He made them the greatest band. He was the icing on the cake.

You should check out his new Steve Perry solo album he finally put out. It’s worth a listen.

It is sad that Steve is the only one who acknowledged everyone on stage that night. Neil mentioned Steve but it seemed like everyone else snubbed him. I love that he also thanked and acknowledged Arnel. I will always love Journey but Steve will always be the GOAT VOICE. I also think it's sad that when Gregg left because he was tired of touring, it was okay. When Steve left for health and and personal reasons, he became public enemy number one to the band. This is why I will always be a Steve Perry fan! He is humble and kind.

Well deserved in Hall of Fame...Steve you can never be replaced because you have that beautiful voice....even though you aren't with Journey you have moved forward and came back to your passion of music.....I am always full of joy when I hear you sing❤

Thank you to both Steves!.., Steve Smith and Steve Perry for appreciating Arnel's effort..you've said it right, he worked his ass-off to keep Journey's presence felt today via non-stop tours, keeping your legacy alive and more felt in this generation, making the band happy that they could play live again... I'm sure Arnel apreaciated it so much as well..

He should appreciate the fact that he's getting paid to cover a former Journey member's songs. Which is exactly what he was doing before Journey. The fact that he gets to make millions by singing another person's songs should be enough. Sure he's helped keep Journey going, but beyond that what has he really done to contribute to their success. City Of Hope is the only somewhat success that's he's helped contribute to the band. Besides that his entire tenure with Journey is just him singing Steve's songs. He should be happy that he was even mentioned at all.

Send them my love... Love Journey and their songs. Missed so much Steve Perry when he got out of the band. Journey is not the same without him. And by the way: Steve was amazing in his speech. 🥰🥰🥰

There is NO Journey without Steve Perry. He is unfailingly humble, honest, and has the best voice in rock (though I admit I love Joe Elliott too!) Journey, thank you for providing the musical score to my life. I love you all!

Arnel Pineda is a great great singer and there is not enough room in this post for me to talk about that particular point. However, Arnel Pineda did not make Journey an all time great band. At the end of the day, it is Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Steve Smith, and Ross Valory. Pineda was brought in to give Journey one last run and he has done wonderful. Pineda is an all time great because he is a phenomenal talented singer...

Steve is truly a class act!

Great moment. Amazing band, amazing talent. Steve was such a class act mentioning and thanking each of them individually...yet it's a shame no one else mentioned him. Highly unlikely they'd be on that stage without Steve joining Journey - he took them to the stratosphere.

Jams 76, Neal mentioned Steve and told him he is one in a million. The other members didn't mention Steve, but they didn't mention each other either.

I like how everyone cheers when Neal acknowledges Steve Perry but almost no one cheers when he mentions how Gregg Rolie was why Journey was formed. Story of Journey’s life.

I play and replay that part and it makes me so happy to hear the audience give credit to Steve Perry. He is the reason Journey made it this far..

Wow! Steve, thank you for shouting out Arnel Pineda name knowing he’s been in the band for over 10 yrs. He was the reason i’ved watch journey live 2x traveling all the way to Las Vegas fro east coast just to see hourney

Every time I watch this I turn the volume up when it's Steve Perry's turn...he deserved that!!! And I'm so glad he took a moment to take it in. People screaming "Steve Perry" the whole time all the members were on...he is so loved! And so sweet how he acknowledged Arnell...wow! What a guy! And to see Ross rubbing his back...it was really touching! Thank God he's back singing again! One of a kind...absolutely!

Outstanding the audience reaction when Steve was just about to speak!!! HE REALLY DESERVES IT SO MUCH!!!! Arnel is a great singer, but Steve's voice is magnificent!!!!!!!

Steve Still owns Journey and Always will!
