I received the arms and clips in an envelope with no instructions. It would have been a challenge to figure it out without the instructional video. Everything went exactly as described. It took me 10 minutes and I am a hero! Thanks so much!

Great video! I just discovered if you hold the driver window lock down while you push and hold the sunroof button it closes manually so I was at least able to close it from inside.

Thanks! We are having the same problem on our Aero. Now we can fix it for less than the $250 the sunroof shop wanted to charge.

Have this same issue. Only on passenger side though. Nice to know it's a pretty easy fix. Mine has pinch protection. So when it broke I had to bypass it by holding window lock button at same time as closing it.

I've ordered the parts for the sunroof deflector not lowering based on your vid, but I also need the clips that allow the sunshade to move when the sunroof is moved back/forward. If you have any info on that it would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again for the great Saab vids! I used your fuel pump level sensor vid to swap my pump this week. Great content!!

Yup I have the same problem on my 9-3 03 this helped so much because I thought my sunroof rail was just broken but I guess they are clips

Edit 5/13/23 can find these clips in thingiverse if you have a 3d printer cheaper alternative for diy repair

I installed them and it is nice to use my sunroof again! I did put a spot of synthetic grease on the swivel points during the clip install. Now, I wish I could figure out what is binding on my 07 9-3 sunroof. any ideas on common failures? Thanks!

So the same issue is happening to my 2006 saab 9-3, although I can’t open my sunroof, only be able to tilt it. I also hear that plastic crunching and my question is if the sunroof is stuck closed on the air deflector how am I able to open the sunroof to repair the 2 clips? Thank you!

Followed the steps and it worked - very easy. However, now that the arms are installed, the sunroof still automatically opens as if the pinch-protection is engaging. But nothing is hindering it and there’s no crunching noise or anything like that. Any ideas?

I believe the process is similar for 9-5 but different part number.

Here's a fun fact that I saw on American Dad: you will find this in the episode of Morning Mimosa Season 10 Episode 11. When Stan drives to the supermarket on King Street, pause whenever the purple color car appears. If you look at it closely before Stan hits the car, you will find a perfectly nice Saab 9-3 (believe it's an Arc based on the rims and body kit). Out of all the times, I look at this cartoon, I just noticed that.

I can see the air reflector is broken at the passenger side, why don't you replace it?

Strange as it may seem that is the actual shape of the deflector. Same thing on the driver side. At the time of fixing those clips I questioned it as well but compared it to my other Aero and it's the exact same way. Good looking out though!

@@WeakestofWeeks Weird, when I was looking at it from the passenger side, it seems like it's broken not like as a straight line. Anyways, glad it's not. Thank you for keeping us updated with your project SAAB.
