Chatting with Some Homeless People

All revenue earned from this video will go to the American Red Cross: www.redcross.org/
"Homelessness is defined as living in housing that is below the minimum standard or lacks secure tenure. People can be categorized as homeless if they are: living on the streets (primary homelessness); moving between temporary shelters, including houses of friends, family and emergency accommodation (secondary homelessness); living in private boarding houses without a private bathroom and/or security of tenure (tertiary homelessness). The legal definition of homeless varies from country to country, or among different jurisdictions in the same country or region. According to the UK homelessness charity Crisis, a home is not just a physical space: it also provides roots, identity, security, a sense of belonging and a place of emotional wellbeing. United States government homeless enumeration studies also include people who sleep in a public or private place not designed for use as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. People who are homeless are most often unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure and adequate housing due to a lack of, or an unsteady income. Homelessness and poverty are interrelated." - wikipedia

But dude... being homeless just because you dont have a job is REALLY rare in the western world. USA or western-northern Europe. There are so many things that help you get a temporary home and to make you able to get food for the day and make you survive cold winter nights and enough of things for you to maybe get a job and eventually buy a cheap apartment. A normal person here should realistically only be able to be homeless for a couple of months, maybe a year at the worst. The reason there still exists homeless people and ALWAYS will, no matter what change happens, is because of addictions. Drugs, alcohol or even GAMBLING. Pick your poison. These people will never get out of it no matter the ammount of help they get because what got them homeless in the first place was not bad luck, it was their bad mentality. An rare case was the last guy who were homeless since 14! Dude, you have to realise how fucking rare that is and suprise suprise he reveals to us he's got Schizofrenia after a while of talking. When he said he had that, everything made sense to me. There is no way in hell a normal person would run away from home because of "freedom" and staying homeless until the age of 29. No, that's not how the world works here in the west when you have no sort of prior problems such as a mental health disorder or some addiction problems.

Great work here. A couple of years ago, I was volunteering at my local shelter and preparing lunch when a guy I went to elementary and middle school with came in. He had been homeless since high school. It really hit me hard. I switched school districts in high school and had no idea. This guy is really smart. Genius level stuff, naturally curious mind, but never could stay motivated enough to get anything done. I hope he’s doing okay now. I haven’t seen him again since that day.

Many homeless have drug and alcohol problems, and are emotionally stunted from childhood neglect and abuse. They're the ones who survived the abortion culture, and aren't currently incarcerated. Great eye opener Andrew. Thanks for filming on a sensitive topic. I've always felt that the vast majority of homeless people are a result of horrible home situations or mental illness or sadly both. Something that a soup kitchen or shelter can't fix. I do feel for these people. A food gift card is actually a really great thing to give. Many people (myself included) struggle with giving cash because of the thought that the cash would be used to score drugs, and just promote a possible drug addiction. Thanks again for sharing Andrew.
