I don't have many skills, and i don't know much. But I have watched every single music performance on youtube, and I can with full confidence say that this is the best one.

Charlie Parr is a (too) rare combination of extraordinary talent and deep, genuine humility. Cheap Wine alone is enough to assure his status as a legendary storyteller.
ah the smell of dark roasted coffee, cowboy breakfast and the sound of charlie parr in the morning. lovely
Discovered him thru a good friend of mine few days back....yes ive been living under a rock
Throughout my life there have been 4 artists that have altered my mind through their music. Gun's n Roses (school years), Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Moreland and most recently Charlie Parr. I've been a life long musician and now well in to my 40's listening to Charlie seems like an all too rare musical treasure for me.
Let me just say, the sound quality of these KEXP recordings is second to none. My word. A tip of my cap. Charlie Parr is a treasure. Cheap Wine is haunting, beautiful and terrifying.

Cheap wine is MY FAVORITE!!
I keep coming back to this. I've never heard any better.
Still stands as the best traditional American musician.
I can smell this songs throughout the fucking screen damn
I ebb and flow into Charlie every few years. I'm delighted every time and always blown away by what a talent he is. I'm an age of overproduced music it's a breath of fresh air. He's an American treasure.
Trampled by 🐢.. Charlie Parr.. and The lowest pair.. all in a one small bar in Bloomington, IN. Perhaps best concert I ever experienced
Is anyone else just cracking up during "On Stealing a Sailboat"?
When I was a teenager I stumbled across Charlie performing on KEXP. I forgot to save the video, so I lost his name. I spent months trawling through the channel before I could find him again. It remains one of my favourite videos on this channel from a beloved performer. Thank you KEXP.
That fingerpicking is next level. It almost sounds like two guitars.

It's awesome, I agree! He plays a 12 string guitars, that's probably why it sounds like two guitars :)

Check out Leo Kottke's 12-string work too if you don't know his stuff.
New Charlie Parr? Heck yes. 2020 doesn't seem so bad anymore. Charlie is such a good story teller. A true Minnesota legend right up there with Bob Dylan and Prince, even if not as famous.

This is the first time I have heard of Charlie Parr, certainly enjoyed this set and his stories. "Over the Red Cedar" pretty damn fine to my ears
Parr is a true storyteller with MAGIC in his picking hand. Vocals are pure, guitar clean & powerful. 🤘❤️🤘
I love Charlie’s playing, his personality and his stories. His songs can be haunting or really funny but always have tons of feeling. I hope to see him play live some day. Regards from across the pond.

Fabulous! An American musical treasure! Thanks Charlie!
Awesome version of Over the Red Cedar!
When I was a teenager in the late 1970's and early 1980's, I wished for a Guild or a Martin 12-string guitar.
His voice is quite pleasant
just incredible. i'll be listening to the rest of his catalogue. thanks KEXP and Charlie.
God bless Charlie Parr! What a wonderful performer!
Charlie has such a beautiful heart. I think we all can learn something from him. Keep it up Charlie!!
Fantastic guitar player, great voice. Very fine discovery in these dark days. The best from France.
Local #1 or not, spotify told me you are my #1 listened to artists in 2019. So there are no conditions on that one.
Charlie Parr is already an American Treasure. Love his guitar work & songs too. Gracias amigo!
Thanks, Charlie! XO

Charlie Parr. One of the reasons I’m glad to call Duluth home.

I live in Wisconsin and have the joy of going through Duluth every year en route to Canada. As a kid I was fascinated by the industrial sights (the freighters, the grain silos, etc). As a teenager, I began to appreciate the incredible beauty of the hills and bluffs. As an adult, I began to dig into the history (Bob Dylan, the railroad, etc). It wasn't until I attended a wedding there that I got to spend three full days in the town. Incredible experience.

A true original.
My most epic Charlie Parr experience was mixing him at a show in Duluth MN. Hey Charlie what would you like in your monitor? Charlie replies nothing man I dont want to hear myself. No monitor here either lol
This guy is great. Why wasn't I informed.
I love you man
I'm late to the party, but happy to be here. This happens a lot. I'm I the only one?
He's really a great punch in the feelies.
I like this minimalistic flow. I am not a musician. great voice great performance. fascinated to this silver looking guitar. great after accident you can play again.
Just found this man a few days ago, wow, so blown away by his 12 string playing, and the lyrics, so good. Chord progression anyone, please?
Damn Charlie is my new favorite, just discovered him recently doing the First Ave Sunday night online concerts with Liz Draper. Hey so does anyone know the model of this Guild 12 String Charlie is using in this vid ? Thanks in advance & Peace !
Charlie's America Were a whole life Can be lived in a song Stone beauty trickling Out but Firm and stout Sporting A breathless doubt Of a new world order That just gets us poorer And poorer A last lament Of what was so much better Delivered unfettered Now a slave of what should never be Taking all giving and nothing back So we do what we do We get high and watch Give up Just have fun While waiting for it all to end We ll send it off With the pops of a million rifles And pistols books of sigils And One last Incantation for it all to end To start again But don t hold your breath friends Just keep doing what keeps you right What you decide P$ Everytime i hear this song (Mag wheels) I see that scene in my minds eye Just two guys sitting beside Each other at a bar Swapping the stories of Their Sweet yesterdays And the bird of youth That has long flown away Wondering where did it all go Somehow Knowing that Speaking it Keeps it true And alive Thanks so much CHARLIE AND KEXP from THE GHOST ON THE SHORE
Fucking awesome!
