Charlie is for sure the real deal, and totally an approachable guy - none of that pretentious BS we get from most people who experience a smidge of fame. Long live him, I say!

Saw this guy at the Kelly Joe Phelps show when Parr came through Seattle. Had never heard of this guy before but have been listening since. This guy knows how to put on a damn good show. Beginning to end, there was so much energy, and all he did was sit there and play and sing. Blew me away. This man and his music is amazing.

Charlie is one Great player!! ... He speaks of Spider John Koerner. I hung with Koerner in '72 - In Copenhagen. I feel old very listening to this new folk wave generation of player .. who sadly are several generations away from the source (but thanks to old vinyl and KZread can find what took us years and lots of miles to dig up). I was truly lucky enough in my time to know Jean Ritchie, Frank & Anne Warner (check out their collection at the library of Congress), I got to open up for Sam Chatman (Mississippi Sheiks), Pink Andersen, The Balfa Brothers, Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin, Bill Monroe ... recorded the then very old mt. fiddle, dulcimer & banjo folks who's family's had been there forever (not transplants). Heck, one of my best buddies was Rev. Gary Davis' driver. Those were times! But thanks to people like Charlie Parr and the players, String Bands, etc - those times live on!

Used to watch CharParr play on Wednesday nights in Duluth like it was no big deal. No cover charge, just him spitting out song after song just to draw in a crowd to the Brewhouse and sell beer.

Jesus told the woman at the well, I have a well too that once you drink from you'll never thirst again. That well is God's wisdom the feminine principle of our Creator, the virgin untouched by man. Through her all Creation was brought into being. Real music comes from the people that live it and breath it and Charlie is real people. Thanks for sharing your music and your talent with us!
