I’m from his hometown, Clarksdale, Mississippi. And I’ve been following this kid since he was 12 years old. He was a child prodigy. Buddy Guy and BB King took him under wing. You can hear Guy’s influence. Kingfish is carrying the torch! 💙🎸💙🎸

I think the only ones rn that are getting a lick of attention is Greta Van Fleet, but there's some really awesome tallent in the younger gen that just isn't making it beyond their home turf. To be totally fair to both legends, BB didn’t ever comp or play rhythm with chords during vocal sections. He played lead, then stopped playing to sing. Never did both at once. And he played his notes more selectively than Kingfish. Again, this is with all due respect to both artists. They are two of my very favorites.

These guys got me clapping my hands at home though. I think most of the time I find it's harder to clap for someone when watching a video or just listening to someone's music especially when I'm chillin on my own in the early hours of a morning. Maybe it's just me though, I might dance or sing, tap my foot or nod my head to many tracks but before now I've found clapping and applause to only find context as communication based social construct. So I really think I gotta give this man more respect for changing my view. Idk how but it actually changed my mood entirely & I feel I heard the music better than when I dance, sing and etc lol 😎

the breakdown from 11:11 onward is a masterclass in tone color and emotion. you'll never be a great player without these qualities. the fastest and most technical guitar shredder in the world is simply boring and uninspiring next to Kingfish... don't show me fancy tricks. don't show me how fast you can run up and down a pentatonic scale... SHOW ME YOUR SOUL!
