Dominus Illuminatio Mea • It's hard to know exactly what a medieval chant sounded like. This embellished reconstruction of a 10th-century Gregorian chant opened our Guillaume de Machaut concert program last month. The music comes from a codex containing the oldest surviving complete neumed mass antiphonary.

Interesting. It bears a striking resemblance to modern Byzantine chant notation. I'm sure there's probably a common origin.
