@K A R A B O it's pretty much the same with me with the gears, I would say I'm too forceful and slip it into 4th gear when my instructor tells me to change to second. But, every journey starts with errors, and I'll learn from them.

I've always heard never to add gas while you hold the clutch at the bite point on an upshift, but i always felt it was smoother, and felt that smoother was better for the clutch, the engine, the transmission. every time i do it its so smooth, it feels like it can't be bad for the car, so i'm glad to hear you do it too.

Little does everyone know I passed in 2008 and have only been driving my first car the last two weeks. I have just been fighting second the last couple of weeks. Jolty as f***. From watching this, I learned I was going to fast for it. I just needed to get into the habit of... Pull Off... CHANGE! Don't wait until I am 15 mph before I change lol. It is a 1.9 TDI though, so I barely hear any revs from first until I am over 10 mph.

2:50 That was interesting for me to figure out. Before I went behind the wheel for the first time, I knew that you had to carefully lift off the clutch when starting in first gear. And i thought, when shifting up, you could just release the clutch as quickly as you want. Well, feeling like a seal on land, I found out this is not true.

Yeah, instructors tend to focus on starting and first gear and one gets the impression after 1 it will be trivial and not needing attention. I personally have pretty much perfect start on 1, but am horribly slow moving on second.

“During your driving lessons you aren’t going to get hugely skilful, you’re going to get skilful enough to pass a driving test”. Nailed it. Thank you so much, Richard! I feel like my driving instructor wants me to aspire to being a precision driver (and makes me do methods for changing gears and for manoeuvres that are way beyond my realistic skill level). All it does is increase the amount of mistakes I make, which undermines my confidence, and leads to even more problems.

Thanks be to God for pointing me to this video, I began today driving in a city full of automatics, this video helped me a lot. It's crazy how comfortable you get driving auto, you forget that there might be others switching gears lol. One thing I learned quickly was keeping my distance and rolling out easy.

After living in Stockholm for 10 years, with no need to have a car. Now I live outside of Malmö and I had to buy a car. And after not having been driving for 10 years I feel like a beginner driver and your videos are gold and a total lifesaver ! I was so scared to be driving again (even though I now have the funds to buy a nice car with parkingsensors and even camera) your videos have helped me regain my confidence and also wonder how in the world I felt so confident before I moved. Had to be young and dumb 😂 now I feel like I can do anything, and if I have any things I’m struggling with I just come back to your videos and I’m good again. 🍀

I was able to learn manual transmission with this person. My brother has been driving a manual for many years, but he didn't explain it as well as this person did. I was able to learn how to drive a manual transmission much faster after watching videos on how to find the flat point, uphill start, and so on.
