Change Differential Fluid TRX250EX 250X
Here is a quick video on how to change your rear differential fluid on an 01-08 Honda TRX250EX and 09-17 TRX250X. These quads have a reputation for being indestructible, but it is always a good idea to flush and maintain your fluids!

Thank you for posting, brother! I just picked up a 2005 last year with low ride time...it was in storage for six years...I wasn't sure how to drain the differential oil, but you made it quite clear...thank you very much. Blessings to you, friend!

Great vid. Only thing of note is, as with changing gear oil in anything, take the fill plug out *first*. That way if the fill plug breaks, strips, etc. you aren’t left without any oil in your gearbox.

For safety's sake I use the Honda Hyroid gear oil. It has additives regular gear oil doesn't. Worth the price if you get it on Ebay for $9.99. The Valvoline is $8.00 at Advance Auto. Its a larger quantity but you don't have to do it very often and the Honda oil will do it a few times. Thanks again Michael.

Stephen Posts I also saw he refilled oil with regular 10w-40/30 Honda requires it to be 10w-40 sj gn4 for warmer weather riding and 10w-30 sj gn4 for colder temps. The additives prevent premature clutch failure and are needed for this machine.

Thanks so much but I had to just add some. When the recon and trx250s do wheelies they leak it out. I’m just adding some because i keep doing wheelies and it leaks out

Nice job an u do very well explaining this stuff. I sure wish i could find me a good 400ex w reverse. One that is in descent shape for reasonable price. Had 1 years ago an loved it but didn't have reverse. Do u happen to know whst year they started making them w reverse??

What's up Dave! The 400ex is an awesome quad. I'm 99% sure that they added reverse in 2005 when they did the body style change. I had an 05 and it had reverse! Thank you for the positive feedback!
