You ain't kiddin' man, mine has developed a nasty kickback recently. I think it could easily break a foot or ankle. Watching him kick that thing with those sneakers on was giving me anxiety, I'm afraid to kick mine even with boots on!

I have 87 and 91 both almost complete 91 is locked up and you now made up my mind to go for it you do an awesome job brother keep up the awesome work!

Go for it man! Great quads and pretty easy to learn how to work on them. Get you a shop manual and just do it. You'll learn as you go and the second time will be a cake walk. Or you could always sell the locked up one to me...lol. I have more powerful quads but for some reason I LOVE the old 250x.

Kicking the shit out of it gets you know where lol the sooner you stop that and start diagnosing the better

I almost had a jammer when I saw you fasten those oil filter 8mm only with an impact😂😂

For those Honda style valve adjustments, I've found a red robertson screw put into a dowel works great to turn them. The screw head is exactly the same size.

On the plus side with all the kicking the engine should be broken in once you get it running lol

Keep a couple feet of Accel 8mm wire around for repairing those.

those lifters make me worry about the cam. I would have changed them both and put the stage 2 in there.

This is why i hate kick starts! first time 13 tries. second time 21 tries. third time 5 tries. fourth time 4 tries. fifth time 4 tries. sixth time 45 TRIES for a grand total of 92 tries.... It reminds me of a horrible chainsaw i had. Haha. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next episode!

If you know the proper method for kick starting there is no problem. All the new bikes with leave you stranded in the woods if you have a battery problem. I'll take a kick start anyday

Maybe just put a new plug wire on the old coil. Always good to upgrade to the 8.8 automotive plug wires anyway🤷‍♂️

I used to have a 1991 and it used to have the same problem. Get the coil and a cdi box for it. It may come as a package deal. Most of the time the cdi goes with the coil. If it ends up stalling out while riding when it get hot it’s the cdi box. Just a warning ⚠️! Great work tho

Did you try taking the battery out and putting it back in?

Sounds like no spark to me. Could see fuel vapor out the tailpipe when you were kicking it over.

Question for anyone reading: if the cam was not set perfectly on TDC, would the motor still run but maybe run like crap and be hard to start? I've got one I rebuilt the top end on and when it does finally start, it won't rev past half throttle. Acts exactly as if it was hitting a rev limiter. Reverse rev limiter has been replaced, along with the wiring harness. Carb is rebuilt. Runs perfectly up to half throttle, it is very difficult to start though. I'm stumped!!!! HELP NEEDED

I think it is the nerf bar on the other side.

Before you put the plug back in you let it swing down while it was plugged into coil and it hit the frame loud enough to make a noise. My first thought was i wonder if that just closed the gap and she wont start. Then it didn't start.🤔

When you were kicking it you could see the spark at the front of the motor hit the exhaust

Yep! That's why I say battery and a starter. I don't have the patience for that shit even you do great work and I haven't seen much that doesn't run and run good when you finish it but not me. Give me a starter or a rope for someone to pull me and get it started that way but i'm like you no spark.

Ok, I need your help because your super good with engines and ik there are a tons of people here who know a good amount about quads. So I found a 2001 raptor 660 for $2,000 on CL. The guy sounds fine and says that the head gasket needs to be replaced but it still runs idles and rides fine. Does this sounds fine? And is a blown head gasket bad or easy fix?

The wire should just unscrew out the coil. Get a new wire from the auto parts store for a few dollars and screw it in

I don't wanna wait 25 mins for you to start it up. Just start it and be done with it

wow little excessive on the kick starter. after spraying it and it didnt go iwould have checked spark then .. Little less brutal on the parts

He works out mechanical issues!! lifting, maneuvering and finessing in tight spaces can cause pulls and strains on muscles and joints, mechanical jobs are quite demanding physical tasks.. most parts are heavier then they look..

That front brake is still stuck.. They should spin freely... People ain't stupid....
