    This was a good one. That's why the plug was black because of the broken spring the gas wasn't shutting off with the float level so it basically was flooding itself while it was running. First thing that popped into my mind though was intake valve or coil

    Another machine fixed! Nice job. These are great machines. I still have a 99 400EX and I'm glad I do because they're bulletproof and the price of a new machine these days is through the roof!

    I was thinking on the intake boot a crack - air leaking. But after watching your video and the carb was the problem. Wow great troubleshooting.

    Well done young man. Ive watched you videos for a while now and I’ve seen you make good progress in a short period of time with your diagnosing process. Want a good tip NEVER believe the customer. No matter what he/she tells you has been fixed just assume is wasn’t done. I know your gut was telling you carb from the beginning🤘🤘

    Be sure to re adjusted the valves for the hot cam specs. When I did a hotcams on my 400 I had to adjust them a little higher than factory settings

    Idk about rare but prices up there but most clapped for price if its a good deal yeah fix it up better than buying from some guy thinking it’s going to work good but you still have to pay the high prices better off fixing it your self and save some money

    My 400ex did the same thing! I got rid of it after not being able to trouble shoot it myself. Neat to know now what was most likely the issue. I wonder how many people have experienced that same issue..

    @@reckless3008 yeah but then u need to pay taxes.... but with how many he buys and sell in he sells alot more then your are legally allowed without being a professionelle in france atleast its 5000€ a year (but not counting cars) not sure how bikes and quads count. but anyway he could but it wouldnt probally be as profitable

    I had an old warrior that did the same thing..I bought it from a guy that couldn’t figure it out..I finally figured out the little clip positions on the needle was worn out and the needle was jumping up and down..I rebuilt the carb and it was mint

    I had a four wheeler with the same problem and it was a wire that shorted out for the engine braking system

    I noticed that when you pulled the fuel screw, no o ring came out.. on some of my bikes the O-ring gets stuck, and sometimes there's 2 O-rings inside.. which makes it run really rich.

    I’m stumped right now in a crf 250 it starts up for a second and shuts back off it ain’t a fuel delivery problem and also I have consistent spark

    check ur air filter. once it gets suction it might be collapsing the filter and shutting off

    Ford Performance I took the filter completely off to make sure it was not the problem and even sprayed a bit of starting fluid with upper lubricant to see if it would last longer than a sec but nope ...thinking it’s cdi I fried some wires and repaired them

    I've seen that issue on 250ea trikes, a little lube in that shaft opposite of the spring should help it. It might be a little worn out in there.

    Same thing happened to mine rebuilt the carb many times and it still didn't work. Put a new carb on it and it ran beautifully.

    Check Cdi Box or coil my ltz 400 ran like crap when it was hot till i changed the CDI box

    My Kawasaki kfx 400 was kinda acting like that and where the exhaust headpipe connected to the muffler that gasket or seal was gone changed it and bam just like new

    @@TaylorNottz well I think the answer to that is very obvious it I'll tell you anyways. If the guy that couldn't get the bike running tells you he cleaned and checked the carb he obviously doesn't know what he's doing and that's the only thing he checked and cleaned so I'd start with what the clueless guy touched not to mention it the most likely thing to check when you're experiencing running issues

    It's carburetor all day long I know I'm responding days later but I would have switched out the carburetor for one of your known good ones and your problem would have been solved within 5 minutes first time you took the plug out you could if it's black looking on it

    Can anybody help me with my 400 ex 1999 I cleaned my cabrater and I went to ride it it rained that day and all of a sudden it started back firing is there water in the fuel and getting in the cabrater or what?

    I had the same exhaust but it was the full exhaust header and silencer from white brothers and rode like shit….once I put the factory oem full exhaust header and silencer rode like brand new …rode with full power it was a nite and day..

    @@Junior-fd8ux my mechanic went threw so much u name it he did it and couldn’t figure it out l….I changed my exhaust to be oem cause to be quieter and once I did that I noticed it right away the problem was fixed the jetting was for oem setup also that the previous owner never changed when he did the white brothers

    @@Fluffy-hi8dv ya I know but when I bought the 400ex the previous owner changed the exhaust to white brothers not me and I didn’t know about it… I just wanted to change to full factory exhaust to be quieter and coming to find out that was the problem jets was never changed so worked out for me.

    Ultrasonic cleaner is good if dirt and grim were the problem. If you watched the hole video you would know that the fuel shut off spring that works by the level of gas and the needle was getting stuck. If that doesn't open or gets stck open you will either get flooded out or you won't get gas. Ultrasonic cleaner would not have made any difference here
