When you remove valves from a head, make sure you deburr the stem where the keepers sit in the groove, oftentimes there will be tiny bits of metal sticking up, causing it to hang up in the guide and possibly damaging it upon forcible removal of the valve. A small file or whetstone takes these right off and allows the valve to slide right out. Great video on this overhaul!

I LOVE your videos fixing these quads and bikes. I'll pass on something I learned from another guy (I think all of us guys doing fixit videos can share a wealth of info and experience), might have been Rocky Mountain Redneck (I can't remember for sure), but he was having trouble getting broken off seized bolts out, and used a set of Parrot Pliers. I'd never heard of them before. It worked for him, but I didn't really have a lot of faith in it, but as I seem to have a tool fetish (I have tools I can't even pronounce the name of), I ordered a set just to have them. Holy crap, those things work incredibly well. I have yet to find a bolt that has at least 1/4" sticking out I couldn't get out with those things. Heat it up like Matt Mazzella said below, grab it with those pliers, and they grip like nobody's business. Looking forward to your next one. Kudo's man.

You should invest in a decent size drill press to Hone your cylinders. When you do it by hand you stand a good chance of making your cylinder egg shaped.also, check your end gap by using the piston to squar up the ring, and do it after you have honed the cylinder.the reason the valves had a lip on them is because the actual valve seats were worn out, causing the valve clearance to b to tight.

I just used it on my jeep. On wheel bearing bolts that I didn't have the right size socket for. I just welded a nut to the top of the bolt. Got it cherry red in the process and got them out with no problem. I'm not saying that it's a 100% guarantee. But if they're that stuck in there you'll most likely never get it out if you don't get them super hot.

Hey I’m having an issue with my 400ex. It will idle and rev fine if you stab the gas, but if you try to hold a steady throttle above idle it sputters like it’s running out of gas. Almost sounds like a 2 step would. Once you get to about 3/4 throttle it steadies out but nothing until then

Invest in a glass bead machine, work bench model or floor model and parts washer, then you could really clean all ur parts up real nice dude..

Hey I have a 1988 Honda trx250X fourtrax 4×2 and seen how the 300EX has the same size Pistone like how you showed on the 250 was like stamped 246 and the 300EX stamped 280 something on the block so my question to you is the 250 and the 300 the same in power? I'm really curious because I want to buy this 1998 trx300ex then sell my 1988 TRX250X so if you could please tell me which one is better and or are they basically the same motor in both the 250 and 300 and how could the 300 be more powerful if it's the same size cylinder as the 250? Also should I keep the 1988 250 or get the 1998 300 in your opinion which one would you go with?

I already put a lot of money in the 1988 250 and looking at the parts that I bought for my 250 most everything would fit on the 300 like a arm bushings front and back bumper wheel bolt pattern all the same so is it worth buying the 300? It is 10 years newer then my 250 seems like only difference is Kickstart versus electric start so please tell me in with some knowledge LOL
