Nigeria will realise the greatest increase in production in it history when it's privatise all its state run companies and sell shares in its ports and airports and allow the share holder manage the ports and airports. Most economist in Nigeria agree with this brilliant man that all the stage own companies should be sold. The only people that disagree with this view are those that never sat in an economics class or are benefiting from the rubbery of state.

At last😂 We have a true financial analyst to discuss economy of Nigeria. Dr. Nnaemeka Obiaraeri. Highlights: transparency & accountability, Security, tackling corruption, strengthening our institutions, checking civil servants lordship, production & export. Thanks for analyzing tactfully. Oligopoly made the likes of Dangote rich; what did Dangote invent? How is he a better trader than other traders/industrialist?, policy bottle necks are meant to check the growth of whomever they don't like. Thank you for saying it truly as it is, devaluation & fuel subsidy removal alone do absolutely nothing to make Nigerian economy great.

When he says that Nigeria has incompetent people in charge of MDAs, he is saying we need merit based appointments but if you do that some tribes will do better, and some tribes will do not so well. That is why those tribes that cannot compete on merit are always striving for political power. We just saw 8 years of appointments based on ethnicity and religion, and we got 2 recessions, highest unemployment, high inflation and a collapse of the security. Naija. we hail thee. Why not break it up into 2 or 3 countries, so that those who want to stay in the 10 th century can do so?????

Nnamaeka is making excellent points here. I am extremely impressed with the knowledge of this young man. It makes me weep that we have intelligent people like this man and yet our nation is a useless and corrupt nation with totally useless and corrupt government. Nigeria is going nowhere until (1) we cut down on imports drastically, (2) employ imports substitution strategies (3) stop misalignment between monetary and fiscal policies (4) stop massive leakages from Federation Account through corruption and excessive governance cost. (5) change from consumption economy to production economy and (6) diversify the economy from mono product economy to decentralised and diversified and liberalised economy. In ten years if these advice are heeded, Nigeria’s growth rates will spike to 10% annually.

@@sterlingferguson1704he has no point. Either he a motorpark economist or bathroom economist. Nigeria import everything. When an importer like Dangote purchases dollar for 750 naira per a dollar instead of 450 naira the official rate. That means that because he bought the dollar at a higher rate, every goods he imported will be sold at a very high price and Nigerians like you will suffer. Vietnam was able to do it because it is a producing nation not a consuming nation like Nigeria. Before you do something like this, you need to make your country productive first which will reduce importation. When you finally put this policy in place, your economy will be able to absorb it because you're already producing and have reduced importation thereby reducing the demand for dollar since you need dollar to import. This is basic economics 101. You don't even need to be an economist to know this. All you have to do is just read the history of the world from 1920 to present. This is a very Bad move and ordinary Nigerian will suffer for this big time. I can bet on this.

The explanation is precise and spot on, but you also have to realise the dollar does not favour non western economies. For the US to increase their dollar supply they just print dollars as they have the central bank that produces dollars. And other western govts benefit from the US central bank in the form of SWAPS, (this is where western countries central banks print money and exchange it for dollars with no trade happening.) Non western countries have to cultivate and export raw materials to get their dollars. If there is no market for your commodities then you have no dollars.

All these responses under this comment I suspect are from one person, cos how did the Obidients comments enter into this. If we have corrupt people in positions of authority how can we implement what the man said? And it's not like the man didn't say it himself. Yet someone is saying Obidients obidense obithis obithat na wah o. These TINUBU supporters don't have sense at all.

You need a neutral person like the man talking for better performances even on the monetary pilicies . Mismatch of economic policies is one of the reasons why we are where we are. Being an investment banker means nothing. You need a neutral person outside the government in the past for a better performance, who cannot be influenced by the government and given a free hand to and whose advices will be reckoned with.

Where are all those people who voted for Tinubu?. If you are going to float your currency, you must first of all get production up and ready to export. You must make your economy attractive to foreign investors. Otherwise, the policy will not work. The corrupt politicians will continue to enrich themselves.
