Unfortunately for Nigerians and Nigeria, the people who are appointed and elected to handle the affairs of the country are amongst the 1% who ruin the economy. Falano says that the Central bank and the government can regulate and control the currency, he is absolutely right as they have been empowered by the constitution and central bank act to-do so but the question is, who are the people at the helm of the affairs? We need to wake up and elect the right leaders that put our country's interest first else we'll continue to be crying and facing the same predicament

Go after people with unearned assets and cash and recover immediately irrespective of their political alliance. Honestly, the Eastern manufacturing economy and the Agricultural & Agroallied industries of South-west and Northern Nigeria should be our focus to reduce dependence on imports. Aba, Nnewi , Onitsha, Lagos, Ota are areas we should investment in massively to help us

How can a country enmeshed in socioeconomic/financial crises ramp up export or production? Productivity is a function of socioeconomic/financial stability? Can a family or an individual afflicted with poverty be productive? increased Productivity which in turn will precipitate export is a function of an enabling environment! To engender productivity/export, there must be an enabling environment first. No matter how genetically productive a mango or orange seed is, it can never grow into a productive mango or orange tree in a desert environment. Nigeria being a net importer currently, expensive dollars is tantamount to a desert environment because virtually all factors of production are imported. The Nigerian currency must first be stabilized before productivity/export can even take place. The most practical solution is to ramp up our oil production from the 1.2m barrels currently being strugglingly produced to the 2.1m barrels that we are allocated to supply in OPEC. Corruption among top government officials and especially the Nigerian military is responsible for this shortfall.

He is saying the truth,it's a shame that it's taken a lawyer not an economist to be saying this, what we have been saying for years.Nigerian government is paying people to go on pilgrimage when other nations are making dollars from pilgrims.Nigeria practically imports everything, including palm oil, garri nevermind cars. Why wouldn't the naira be weak against the dollar? On my hand they are trying to strengthen the naira but on the other hand the same government is doing everything thst makes the naira weaker. The central bank and Nigeria can fix naira to one dollar instead of market value...

Every Nigerian known the truth. What we need is solutions and ideas. Falana and other elites only know how to speak grammar but they will never bring out a solution, at least say it and let it be that the Government has not listened. Ask the Falana how much tax he paid in the last 10 years vis a vis what his earning were. We all need to check ourselves and be sincere and ready to make Nigeria work

@@Boggloo Falana is very close to the corridors of power. He’s well experienced and know how to put papers together. You don’t just talk to satisfy the public. We need him to structure his ideas in terms of problem identification, objective setting, mechanics to solving them, resources requirements, timeline and expected results. When you come on air with a basket of issues, they tend to get lost immediately when the conversation ends. I’m sure the learned SAN knows how better to present his solutions. We need ideas from anyone that has but presented the right way

The schools I went to charged fees in Naira, and I pay rent in Naira. Let’s not be distracted by Big Men Problems. Our issues in Nigeria are much more fundamental than simply chasing dollars. Our economy is UNPRODUCTIVE because of poor physical (power, roads, rail, etc.) and social (schools, hospitals, security, etc.) infrastructure. If Nigerian companies produced high (or even reasonable) quality goods at reasonable (or even cheap) prices, most Nigerians would not be importing toothpicks and virtually everything else. But Nigerian companies cannot do so if they have to spend 40% of their production cost on generating power. Let’s not be distracted when our house is burning by chasing the escaping rats. Our FUNDAMENTAL issue is not the so-called ‘dollarisation’. There are myriad nations doing well that have pegged their national currencies to the dollar, and most of the economically well-off world trade in dollars.

These journalists sat down there, asking Falana questions that they were supposed to have answers to, if they just got up from their seats to investigate. Their seeming surprise was quite nauseating. I think next time Falana should charge them for educating them, as it started looking like they were in class. 😡
