Cell Cycle, Mitosis and Meiosis
028 - Cell Cycle, Mitosis and Meiosis
Paul Andersen explains how the cell cycle is used to create new cells. The creation of identical diploid daughter cells, through mitosis, is described. The creation of unique haploid daughter cells, through meiosis is also described. The importance of cyclin and cyclin dependent kinases to regulate the cell cycle is included.

We're all a bunch of cells watching a bunch of cells talking about a bunch of cells. Huh.

Shouldn't 1:28 be 23 pairs of chromosomes and 46 total*
I know your videos dont replace my book but they sure demonstrate clearer concepts in addition to examples I can relate to. You sure make learning more fun and it doesnt make me want to fall asleep. Keep up the good work on these videos, they sure are a great help. Even for a college student such as myself.
No wonder my teacher only rarely shows us one of his videos, cuz Mr. Anderson here is a better teacher...anyway, thank you!
If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have passed biology. Thanks man!

Great video! BTW at 10:45 you might want to make a video note as to not confuse people. You said mitosis when you meant miosis.

Thanks for sharing this video! It is a great asset and complements my text readings well.
Wow, a full week of my Biology class in 15 minutes that i can rewind. This is beautiful. Hahaha thanks so much!
Division of nucleus is a PART OF MITOSIS and is called Karyokinesis, having 4 parts: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase
you really r a great guy. God Bless You
thanks. great teaching style, most teachers (especialy math/science) don't teach this well. keep it up.

Thank you so much. Now I'm actually learning something!
So helpful for my biology exam!!! thank you so much
Greatly appreciated!
Respect...i really understand the material now!!
I am learning things about Cyclin and what exactly it does that my College 1610 professor and required textbook never explained well or at all... Mr. Anderson, you teach Science better than many of the professors at my university.
you changed the world. thank god for you :)
thanks for your work ,that helps me a lot.
Awesome! I have a better understanding now! thanks for your videos!
I second this answer. The ploidy level (the number of duplicate chromosomes) doesn't change when the chromosomes replicate. Many organisms (mostly plants) do have many copies of each chromosome, though. Wild strawberries can have 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 9 copies depending on the species. Aside from this slip-up, though, this is a great video that really makes the contrast between mitosis and meiosis clear.
yes, it was very helpful. thank you
thanks so much the overview really help to understand the big picture
Thanks, you helped me soo much. You are great teacher. Really. Wow :)
