United have had 3 world class goalkeepers since the premier league started. Schmeichel, Van Der Sar and De Gea. David has been at United longer than the other 2 were and also had the challenge of playing under 5 (soon to be 6) different managers. He’s the only reason we didn’t finish below mid table this season imo.

Its 4. We also had Sergio Romero. A back up GK which apparently was better than any first GK from other teams.

@@nurat855 and we let him leave. and now we have two numpties in Heaton and butland as our second and third choice gks. de gea and Romero were the best GK pairing iv have seen yet.

What a joke

Last Decade, He has been one of the best & consistent goalkeepers you will ever see. Except for that dreadful 2018/19 season, he is the reason half of the time that Manchester United wins. If United was winning trophies like earlier times, no one would've even talked about Ederson and Alisson as much.

eventho he cant use his foot as good as goalie nowadays but i always put him as the best goalkeeper in this decade.. his consistent, his shotstopping- unbelievable

I would like to see if Ederson & Allisson would be the same if Maguire played in front of them instead of Van Dijk/Dias

@@davidenatoh359 no chance theres a reason de gea doesnt come out of his box unless needed to ederson and allison would both be caught out within a matter of minutes if they played with maguire lindelof, jones, smalling,. best cb's de gea has played with recently was varane and the tunzebe that played against psg

Just the reminder that this guy played behind the likes of jones and smalling for seasons..now playing behind maguire and lindeloff.. Needs to be appreciated a hell more!

I strongly believe that without De Gea, we would have dropped to a mid-table side during the end of Van Gaal's run and would have only gotten into the Europa League once in 17/18. The only reason he won't go down as one of the greatest of all time is because he's spent the last 7 or 8 years behind an average to championship level defence

Having Harry Maguire in defense and still saving goals you gotta respect de gea even now

DDG was so lucky on his early Man Utd days & so unlucky few years later... On his early days, he played behind Vidic, Ferdinand & Evra... Nowadays, who play in front of DDG? If you looks at the goalkeepers of the Premier League, Mendy is good, but he has Rudiger in front of him, Ederson is good, but he has Laporta in front of him, Allison is good, but he has VVD in front of him, Schmeichel is good, but he has Evans in front of him, now back to the question, who play in front of DDG? DDG is so unlucky...

I remember when he was still new, they were saying he had big shoes to fill and it wasn't an exaggeration either. Schmeichel and Van Der Sar are goalkeepers with legendary status. But now he definitely is up there along side them

Love what Berba said, man I miss Berba.

Seriously don't get why our fansbase turns on him so much. He is the only player post Fergie Era who has been consistently there putting up world class performances. He had his bad days as well but common like he saved our defence for atleast 5 years straight. He is still there pulling out incredible saves every week. One of the only players who fought for the shirt when others didn't. He is an absolute monster goalkeeper. I remember the time when he came into the club and everyone thought he ain't good enough. Boy did he prove everyone wrong for over a decade. He is Manchester United legend and people should acknowledge what he has done on the pitch for this club over the years. Deserves all the respect from the united fans. I hope he stays because he is still a world class keeper and would only get better under ETH.
