There once was a captain named Trip, who sailed a small but capable ship. He acted a bit of a goofball at times, other times smart as a whip. He began each morning with protein to spare, eggs and sardines the usual fare. He’d then have himself a manly sized sip, of the aqueous concoction that sponsored his ship. When Trip began smelling less than a flower, it mattered not his ship had no shower. He’d leap from his vessel like a crack of a whip, into the water to take a Trip dip. He’d fire up his engine and put her in gear, taking us on journeys both far and near. We all have fond memories of Captain Trip. and thank him for allowing us to crew his ship.

Get yourself a 3D printer Trip. Then you can make any kind of cover, box, mount or fitting to suit the application. You could 3D print a junction box to cover all your solar panel connectors.

@@TripSmithYooo Trip, your awesome. LISTEN: YOU NEED to find yourself a ' vanquish k1 ' kayak and give it a whirl. TRUST MEEEEE you will LOVEEE IT. It's a sprint kayak like in the Olympics ' k1 sprint kayak'. Find a paddle club and ask to go try it out . Trust me. And for the sea you have the 'surf ski' but, I would stick with the k1 inshore, in rivers and inlets. Cheers brother your the best God Bless you and yours.

For your wires, There is insulation pipe wrap, designed to protect refrigeration lines from UV degradation. That material could be used to tidy up your wiring. E-Flex Guard or Techflex to name a couple. There are also uv resistant tapes available. That’s the rabbit hole anyways, happy hunting Trip.

Awesome video! So many people forget that 75% of time on the boat is maintenance (if you're lucky lol). Plus random upgrade montages are always interesting and give people new ideas. love the upgrades, Trip! looking forward to more adventures on the water. with this extra solar, and maybe a bigger battery/inverter, you could get an induction cooker and electric kettle, maybe even airfryer, so you can skip on using propane/butane. one less limited resource you have to worry about running out. thius little boat could potentially go off grid for quite a while i'd reckon.

Simple explainer: series wiring increases voltage where parallel increases current. Apparently the DC charger on your battery likes the latter better. Generally, series works better in low light situations where parallel work better if you have a shaded or damaged panel. Edit: according to Oukitel, your P2001 accepts 12V-48V/15A, so three panels in series @ 18-20V each would exceed that. But three in parallel @ ~4A each would be fine.

  • @TripSmith

Hi Trip, I always appreciate your videos! I had to repair a sailboat rudder that was made of plastic type material, not fiberglass but softer. It had a few small cracks where screws were embedded to hold the plastic to the aluminum core. For the first time, are used a tape over the top method to smooth things out and hold it in place, and it worked so well I didn’t have to sand anything. Just wanted to mention that. With your solar panel on the roof I wondered two different things, will moisture trap between the solar panel and the roof and could this cause blistering? Also, will the black panel intensify the heat held right up against the fiberglass and caused any problems? I’m hoping for the best and again really appreciate your work trip I’ve seen your videos from small boat sailing on your Montgomery and that’s when I first grew to love your material thanks again and I appreciate all you do for all of us!
