Exploring and Camping Crystal River by Boat

Known as the manatee capital of the world, Crystal River, Florida is a very cool place to explore by boat. In several days camping on my C Dory 22 I was able to see crystal clear springs, manatees, beautiful Gulf of Mexico islands and flats and even a couple tiger sharks! Add this place to your list.....

@@TripSmith Thanks for your reply.... Those are VERY nifty too because they can spin 360° as the tide changes. I don't know if they do or can adjust through a 4'-6' tide change. Trip I'd really like some of your thoughts about the motor. I am on a 100% course with getting a C-Dory 22'. In a few month or as many as 24. But it IS a definite. I've messaged "Jim's Florida". He has the 90. He said the 115 can inhibit getting insurance. That doesn't seem correct. I thought any motor that is within the "rated" guildlines is okay. Also.... You travel pretty light and I plan to also. Do you ever think that you bought too much motor and a 90 would have still been more than enough? Jim said he never feels under powered with his 90. I love your clips. I can promise you.... I'm NEVER doing a channel. I can't see all the work you do but I know it a LOT. Much more than I'm ever going to be willing to apply. Sorry such a long message. Thanks again for your very enjoyable clips.

Can I suggest getting some sort of flexible pole(flag pole maybe?) that you can temporarily attach on the front(where you can see)where the top of the pole would be just a few inches higher than the solar panels when you're a little iffy on clearance. @@chiphill4856 Look at 7:52 The anchor is off the bow. He is ONLY throwing and pulling out the anchor from the starboard side. I've been in a 22" bay boats with a 150.... same weight of a vessel... with just a stake pole and a power pole.... In calm conditions, the boat ain't going nowhere. 90% of Florida's inshore water near the waterline is low current, low waves, low depth... Some places....anchors are abusive to the bottom vegetation when a simple pole will work fine AND the boat can swing 360° with the wind or current changes. Sure....You need TWO anchors in the boat for different conditions. But a push pole is a great extra tool. You can push the boat closer or away from the shore or hook the dock.... it's too easy to keep on top and too functional to NOT have one.

You ran into the crazy kayak folks with vests didn't you lol? I was there about 10 years ago and got assaulted by an old lady on a kayak wearing a vest. She said I was too close to the manatees and proceeded to slap the water with her paddle, hitting my leg. Needless to say, we had a few words, especially since I was a good 10ft from the manatees!!! I have a feeling you had a run-in with one of those crazies too 😂

You may have answered it before... but why not leave your anchor on the pulpit and handle from the front hatch? Looks like there may need a top loop on the pulpit manufactured. But seams safer single handed than walking around. Like the videos

Howdy! Well, that cover came with the boat and might have been original to the boat. Most of the time covers like that are custom made so to get one you would need to take the boat to a canvas shop and leave it with them while they create the cover ;)

Just watched the video and noticed one particular thing. You mentioned your buddy “Ronnie Mac” gave you the scallops. Are we talking Jimmy? If so (that’s cool. Good people) my nephew Mikey is friends with him (riding SX). And you need a few more people on that boat next time (us)! :-)

You need a feeler gauge on the point of your bow that way. If the feeler gauge don't fit neither will the boat
