Out of all the trees to grow up out of the cave a fig tree bearing fruit for Jesus. I remember a fig tree Jesus rebuked that would never bear fruit again. Amazing!

Dale you obviously didn't get it. The cave has the earliest written name Jesus inside, a fig tree guards the entrance. All I meant ironic a fig tree out of all the trees that could of grown up there. I remember a story Jesus was hungry for figs came upon a fig tree with no fruit and he rebuked it saying may you never bear fruit again. While passing upon bye that fig tree again his apostles noticed the fig tree Jesus rebuked had died from the roots up. Not that this tree in the vidoes is that tree. Shows how much you've paid attention to what is written in those scriptures.

@@colemansquestforthehunt6423 Im very familiar with that story you mention. Jesus rebuked a fig tree even though he had full knowledge that figs were not in season. But this video is attempting to present actual evidence of something being true and not just a story, which is all the new testament is. So use the reasoning in your brain that was given to you. It would be pretty easy for someone to plant a fig tree there, I doubt it was some sort of miracle or by chance. But it looks like a sign to those too eager to believe and not think.

The Supremacy of the Son of God - Colossians 1 - 15 : 23 "15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation- 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant." Hosanna to the King of Kings! 👑+✝️+🔥 The Holy Triune

But it doesn’t say any of these things. Other possibilities: 1 That CHRISTIANITY is here 2 A guy named Jesus was buried there 3 This is ONE OF the supposed burial sites of Jesus, as there are several of them even today 4 A kid doing graffiti Coming 2 centuries after the supposed events, it canNOT be historical evidence of anything other than the BELIEF in Jesus at BEST. It is historically impossible to prove a miracle since history works from the most likely explanation, and by definition a miracle is the least likely thing to occur.

@@mrhyde7600 Interesting theories! 1. Possible, if it said "Christianity", not "Jesus". 2. Possible, but why the crosses? And where's the ossuary, bones, or slab for burial? 3. The inscription is from 200 AD. Jesus was killed in 33 AD. So it's too late for this. 4. What difference does age of the person making the inscription, or grafitti, make to you?

@@davidrobinson5180 Well, 1 people still say things similar to this, to this day and in other parts of the world. But should we conclude that Jesus was actually there? Was Jesus actually interacting with them? Any more so than in any other church in the world? I kind of doubt that. 2 Why are there crosses at cemeteries for people who are not named Jesus? 3 No it’s not. After Christianity gained the endorsement of Rome, lots of holy sites were conveniently discovered, so if anything it was too early. 4 The age does not matter one bit. This was a throwaway possibility demonstrating the fact that there are several more options than the very narrow interpretations you applied to it. These are only powerful pieces of evidence if you have already concluded that those things are true and you are seeking further evidence for them. An unbiased observation would allow you to see the possibilities I have presented.

@@lawrencestanley8989 1:55 the guy states that the inscription is from around 200 CE, which according to the story would be 170 years after his death. At the very best it would indicate the presence of Christianity, not that a demigod had a virgin for a mom to centuries prior. What Jesus said and did, according to the gospels? That’s assuming I’ll accept the gospels as accurate history, which I don’t. But even if I agreed Jesus said everything the gospels say he said, a 200 year later inscription that says “Jesus present“ doesn’t back up any of those words. Answer this if you would: if we found an inscription that said “this is where Gabriel spoke to Mohammed”, would that be evidence for Islam?

How fitting! A small cave with a simple but prominent proclamation testifying of our Lord etched across the stone beautifully patina'd by time. I love it! And a little fig tree at the entrance ..just puts a cherry on top! This little cave fulfilled Luke 19:37-40 37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” --------- That stone in that small cave still cries out! Baruch HaShem Adonai! Blessed is the name of the Lord! Amen ✡✝ .

I'm a Christian, but stating that this is actual evidence of his existence is wishful thinking. It's cool, but at best it only proves that a Christian carved something into the cave wall. If I carve "Spiderman Is Here" into a wall, it shouldn't "prove" to later generations that Spiderman is real.

The veneration of the cross as a symbol, still common today, is only documented from the 4th century, the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great. Before that it was The Fish or Ancor & 2 Dolphin (Appolo) Revised to Ancor & 2 fish. Cross & 2 fish. It has a very traceable path. You do know Archaeologists have unearthed the tombs of 71 Yeshua's from the period of Jesus' death. This is not one. There may have been a Jesus failed messiah, but it means nothing.

The meaning of the inscription Jesus is present is based upon the breaking of the bread which is mentioned in the book of Acts. At the breaking of the bread the priest will take the bread and wine and turn them into the body and blood of Jesus and then Jesus would be present Protestants don't believe this but the Catholic church has been teaching it for 2,000 years great find very very heartwarming thank you.

Prov. 27:18 The fig tree in front of this cave is very symbolic of that verse - "guarding" the entrance to that cave. All who accept the validity of this inscription are protecting the sacredness of Christ as King in the depths of their hearts, just as this cave in the ground is protecting the inscription.

Thanks for these KZread videos, Joel. (My wife and I also read and appreciated your book.) Regarding the translation, the first word is definitely the name for Jesus. The second word appears literally as “οδε” in Greek. I am not an expert - not even close. However, it seems that, although lexically, this word is defined as “an entity regarded as relatively present in terms of the discourse setting,” in practice, it doesn’t simply translate as “present” in the translations (that I checked). Rather, if it is translated at all, translators seem to often represent it like a pronoun such as “this” or “this one.” I looked at examples in the Greek OT (LXX), including the exact lexical form as found in Exodus 8:25, 17:6; Lev 10:16; Num 23:6, 17. Yet, the references did not clarify the meaning at all (to me), especially of the translation of “present.” I also noted, for what it is worth, the lexical form “οδε” in the LXX is always followed by some other main verb. I did attempt to consider an alternative translation. Even though I would not say this was a successful effort, another attempt might make note of the following observations: 1) The inscription reads “Ιεσους” instead of how it reads in NT Greek (“Ιησοῦς”). So, the writer substituted an ε instead of an η (and this is likely due to a Romanized style). 2) That being the case, then “οδε” could likely also be the commonly Romanized version of the Greek “ᾠδή” (the noun, meaning “ode”). As I am sure you know, an ode is an ancient lyrical “song” of praise that occurs very often in the LXX. E.g. Many psalms are introduced as “an ode/song by (or pertaining to) David.” Sometimes, depending on the context, the word is also translated as “singer(s)” e.g., 1Chron 15:22. If we tentatively grant the Romanized form of the noun “ode/song,” then we have the name “Jesus” plus the noun for “song/singer.” Yet, problematically, there is no verb. In this case, the inscription does not make good sense if the verb “to be” is implied (“Jesus is/was/will be a song/singer.”) Certainly the noun proposal would have made a little more sense if the word order had been reversed and with the dative case (Ιησοῦ) “A song to Jesus” The Greek “ᾄδω” is the verb form “to sing.” As an aside, both words occur together in Rev 14:3 (“they sing a new song”). Although the verbal form would fit the context better (basically “praise Jesus”), the actual written form of the inscription seems too different to allow for this idea. It would not follow the observed pattern of letter substitution noted above either. Another (even less likely, but still worth mentioning) Romanized candidate might have been "αδων" (i.e., the Greek noun Adon, which transliterates the Hebrew name for Lord). Thus “Jesus is Lord.” However, again, it seems the inscribed form is too different from the Greek noun for “lord.” So, all that said, although the inscription was clear to the original Christian writer/audience, I wish I was more convinced about the translation. I would be appreciative of further clarification if available. Certainly, doubt about the exact translation doesn’t take away from the major premise of the video as archaeological evidence for early Christian belief in Jesus.

Hi Todd, In a nutshell the inscription has what are called "lunate forms" of Epsilon and Eta, and a more simplified Iota. The inscription is a variant spelling of the name Jesus that substitutes an Epsilon with Eta. This variant is known (some from the Galilee) and there are many parallels as there also are for the lunate forms and simplified Iota from the Greek name of Jesus found in many other inscriptions. The full title of the article about this inscription is as follows: A Greek Inscription: "Jesus is Present" of the Late Roman Period at Beth Loya by Titus Kennedy.
