How to fix P0706 Code: Transmission Range Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance
The Transmission Range Sensor tells the computer (TCM/PCM) whether the gear selector is in Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, or Low.
A P0706 Code is set when the computer sees an issue with the signal from the Range Sensor.
Depending on the vehicle manufacturer, the Transmission Range Sensor is also called a Neutral Safety Switch.

that was a very helpful video! so I accidentally spilled soda in my '09 Optima's gear selector. I superficially cleaned it, but a few weeks later, my check engine light came on, and it reads this same code. do you think it could be the reason?
