New York facial cosmetic surgeon Amiya Prasad, M.D. reviews what filler migration is; factors that can cause filler migration; how it is the skill of the practitioner, not the brand of filler, that determines quality results; and the effectiveness of filler placement at the bone level, as opposed to placing filler just below the skin:

1:31 - The types of hyaluronic acid fillers, and their longevity
1:42 - Why the body can metabolize hyaluronic acid fillers without long-term issues

2:23 - What filler migration is
2:44 - How it is unlikely for filler to migrate far away from the area where the material is placed
3:09 - Factors that can cause filler migration
3:17 - How placement of injectable fillers used to be done exclusively by doctors with formal residency, and Fellowship-training in aesthetic-focused fields

    Hi @anastasia4068, You can look at the Y Lift network of doctors who perform bone-level filler placement. While it does require facial surgery knowledge to perform, not all facial surgeons are trained in the technique of bone-level filler placement. I hope this helps you.

    Hi@@anastasia4068, Presence of filler should not affect your surgery, but your surgeon should be informed well ahead of time to plan the surgery around the filler material. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Can hyaluronidase desolve an old filler dated of about 5 or 6 years ago and if the use of fractional radiofréquency can desolve this old filler thank you.

    Hi @leila3226, Hyaluronidase can dissolve old filler that hasn't metabolized, but it has to be a hyaluronic acid filler, and injection technique matters if the filler is in deeper tissue. It is not safe to attempt to dissolve filler with a thermal device like radiofrequency. Keep in mind these devices use heat, and it's not safe to heat filler. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi. How long after a hair transplant should I wait to get a face/neck lift done, and which one should be done first the hair or the neck/face? Thank you.

  • @AmiyaPrasadMD

    @AmiyaPrasadMD

    Hi @thestork2210, As long as the facelift incision needed are not on hair bearing skin, I would recommend the hair transplant first, then the face and neck lift done at least 3 months after so hair grafts have time to heal. Keep in mind that I perform facelifts with local anesthesia. General anesthesia puts more stress on the body, so it could add to shock loss (temporary hair shedding) even months after your transplant was performed. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi @therealnirmalpr, Combing your hair normally can be done soon after hair transplant surgery, but it is best to ask your transplant surgeon who knows the details of how your hair transplant was performed, and can examine your scalp for any issues. I hope this helps you.

    Dr is there any chance of fillers migrating to the sinuses ...i am more prone to sinisitits after undereye fillers ...any relation?

  • @AmiyaPrasadMD

    @AmiyaPrasadMD

    Hi @DrChethana, It is highly unlikely that under eye filler will migrate into the sinuses. While placement technique is important to prevent migration, filler generally doesn't migrate far from its original location. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    I ended up getting cheek implants but my doctor used those blue Demo implants instead of a clear ones. Would you say that was a horrible idea? Are the demo blue implants made the same as the clear ones?

  • @AmiyaPrasadMD

    @AmiyaPrasadMD

    Hi @CriscianaLovely, Blue implants are called sizers, and are not meant to be implanted. They are used for finding the right size implant for a patient before surgery. Clear implants are meant to be implanted because they are sterile out of the protective packaging right before they are implanted into a patient. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    how exactly does placing filler on bone level prevent migration? judging intuitively, wouldn't making normal facial expressions result in the muscle above the filler moving and subsequently spreading/migrating the filler outwards as well?

  • @AmiyaPrasadMD

    @AmiyaPrasadMD

    20 күн бұрын

    Hi @rakeshroshan4119, As explained in the video, it is the overlying muscle layer atop the bone that prevents filler migration. Filler migration often occurs at the more superficial level of filler placement, such fat/soft tissue layer, or at the dermal level just below the skin. The Structural Volumizing technique of deeper bone level placement is done in areas with little to no facial movement, such as the cheeks, jawline, and chin. For areas with more facial movement, softer fillers are used to allow for natural facial expressions, but softer fillers also don't last as long, at about 1 year as compared to thicker fillers placed at the cheeks and chin that can last up to 2 years. I hope this clarifies things for you.

  • @rakeshroshan4119

    @@AmiyaPrasadMD but wouldn't the movement of the overlying muscles, say, for filler placed directly on a very mobile place like the midface, cause the filler to move as well?

    Hello doctor. I had a hair transplant 9 months ago in Turkey. 3400 grafts on the front. (FUE/DHI). When the hair fell out after a few weeks, it started growing very slowly in the 3rd month. Unfortunately, since 3 month the left side has been growing much better than the right. The clinic said everything was normal, but I was frustrated by the lack of growth on the right side of my head. Around the 7th month I went to a trichologist who said that I might have seborrheic dermatitis (I haven't had any redness for about a month now) I changed my shampoo then and started supplementing with vitamins and minoxidil. I have been taking finasteride since the 3rd week after surgery. The clinic says everything is fine and I'm frustrated because the left side and center is dense enough and the right side just looks like it was done in a worse clinic. What can I do?

  • @AmiyaPrasadMD

    @AmiyaPrasadMD

    Hi @newdomiwave2137, Sorry to hear about your problem. A factor often overlooked in FUE transplants is that at least some hair prone to thinning is used as hair grafts, so there may be issues with growth, and progressive thinning of grafts. We have thickened hair grafts, and native hairs, as well as stimulated growth from follicles that are dormant and miniaturizing with our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment. Our patients who were already on finasteride for years still see dramatic improvement in growth and thickness, and minoxidil is not needed after our treatment. You can refer to these videos about it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pH2gq5dudpedaNo.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2ec17WBd7zYdrg.html

    @@AmiyaPrasadMD I understand, but even if the hair was taken too wide from the recipient area, it is then randomly attached to the donor area, so why would there be small patches on the right side? The clinic tells me to wait because it may be a blood circulation issue. But how can I believe that suddenly after 9 months the right side will catch up with the left?
