My mother passed away in 1995. She was seventy four. In 2014 I was driving through the village where she had once lived and decided to visit the local Catholic Church. I walked down to the riverside in the Church grounds and said a prayer for her. Right at the end of the prayer the sun came out and and seemed to be pulsating. I took a photograph of it. A year later I happened to look at the photograph and noticed in the top left corner of it, red and blue rays, (Divine Mercy?) also a white form (Soul?) and an orb of light. To my utter astonishment in the orb, was a young lady smiling back at me! It was my mother, I immediately recognised her smile. If you click on my thumbnail photo (left) you can hopefully see it for yourself. Greetings from Wales! IESU BENDIGEDIG (Wonderful Jesus)

I love Bishop Barron. He is very intelligent and enthusiastic in his FAITH. Perhaps it is not death so much that he fears, but the mechanism and process of dying that he fears. Pain and suffering are just that. I'm a critical care doctor and I deal in this daily. Also, the true fear of the unknown. He is mortal just as we are. Perhaps the fear is also have I really been a "good enough" soul to spend eternity in Heavan with God when I draw my last breath? God is perfection. Mortals clearly are not. I believe that Bishop's FAITH in God is complete, but it is FAITH in our mortal account that is the true fear. The Apostle's Creed and Niacine Creed both state the body will be resurrected and everlasting life. The question is, and thus the unknown fear, where will that eternity be spent? Perhaps this answer was not quite as eloquent as he usually is, his spirit and FAITH in it is still there. To get to Heavan, you first have to do the work and have the FAITH to get there. I think we in the comment section need to remember that God alone is the Judge, not us.

Interesting that you'd consider Jesus a liar. Have you heard of his resurrection shroud that none can explain how it came to be? I really think you're making life a whole lot harder than it has to be. My father was in a coma for a month and was expected to die or at best live in a vegetative state. He lived for 50 years fully able to perform most everything possible. He was very religious so his children are too. I lost my home to huricane Ian and my son was mistakenly kill by police action within six months. I don't think I would fair well if I hadn't faith in Jesus. I challenge you to read the Book of the Gospel of John and see if it strikes a cord with you. If anyone can prove God exists it is John. It starts out with poetry that you kind of have to tuck away as you journey with Jesus through the book. After you have read it try to unpack the opening poetry that you tucked away in the beginning of the book. I don't expect a change other to be better versed in your current position. Challenge others to do the same thing and discuss their findings of the book.

I had a O.B.E. in 1979. It happened 3 weeks after I learned how to expand my consciousness by experiencing transcendental consciousness. It is not meditation. Meditation keeps one's attention on an inculcated idea in the mind. What I experience takes my attention away from the mind. I remain aware of the procession of thoughts but I am not interested in focusing on any of them. I believe I am connecting my consciousness to Divine Universal Consciousness which is the Holy Spirit. Divine Universal Consciousness is continually expanding and creates new galaxies, solar systems and new species of beings. While I was having my O.B.E. My consciousness was totally immersed in Divine love. All I was aware of being while I was out of my body was consciousness.

It seems that Bishop Barron does not believe in conscious existence immediately after death. He seems to be espousing soul sleep or annihilation of consciousness until the resurrection, existing only as a memory in God's mind. Of this is the case that would be no different than what Jehovah's Witnesses, 7th Day Adventists and other cults teach and not the True Faith. Soul sleep is a hersey Bishop Barron.

I don't think that's the case, because as a Catholic priest/bishop he is constantly asking for the intercession of the saints: "pray for us." To be in God 's memory doesn't imply annihilation of consciousness; it is only because God "remembers" us that we exist at every moment.

@tjseaney_ thanks, I agree with you but I am very suspicious of his insistence that disembodied souls are a "platonic fantasy". If the "pattern" that his Grace refers to as being in God's memory has he puts it is not a disembodied soul then what is it? Ap memory in God's mind is part of God, such as His Word or Wisdom or Logos, but the human disembodied spirit, while created by God is separate and distinct from God's mind.

  • @3Hypostasis1God

@@tjseaney_thanks, I agree but am very suspicious since in all his videos His Grace consistently speaks ONLY of tge Resurrection and avoids any talk of the intermediate state whether Paradise, Hades, or the Roman concept of purgatory. Everyone knows that ther is a resurrection.... that's not wha0t people mean whe0n they ask what happens to us when we die. The correct answer is that we wait consciously, happily with the saints in Paradise in a spe0cifically disembodied state. It is disappointing that the interviewer in this video simply accepted the bishop's side stepping of the question and did not press his Grace directly on the point pof the question He still has not answered what happens to the consciousness of the person immediately upon death.

What happens after death ? A person becomes non-existent, returning to the ground from which they came, for when Adam rebelled in the garden of Eden, the account at Genesis 3 says: "And to Adam he (God, whose name is Jehovah, see Isa 12:2, KJV) said: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, ‘ You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground on your account.........In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”(Gen 3:17, 19) So, when Adam died, he returned to the "dust" of the ground, ceasing to exist, and so has all his offspring who have died, having received from Adam the flaw of sin, or imperfection, as Romans 5:12 stipulates. At Psalms 146, it says: "Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His spirit (or life force, that can be likened to electricity for an appliance) goes out, he returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish."(Ps 146:3, 4) Ecclesiastes 9 sums it up this way: "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun."(Ecc 9:5, 6) Ecclesiastes 9:10 completes that truth, saying: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might (while alive), for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave (or after death), where you are going." And at Psalms 115:17, it says: "The dead do not praise Jah (shorten form of Jehovah, God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV); Nor do any who go down into the silence of death." Thus, when a person dies, he ' goes down into the silence of death ', in which there is no "hellfire" (nor purgatory) that the churches have taught for centuries, because dead people cannot be tormented and scream. And at Jeremiah 32:35, Jehovah God condemns the apostate Israelites for burning their sons and daughters in the fire to Molech, calling it an "abomination" and "sin", as the King James Bible reads.
