CATCHING HUGE PUERTO RICAN FISH FROM THE SHORE: Healy Outdoors

Спорт

Fishing from the beach in Puerto rico May 25, 2017 on Healy Outdoors. Surf fishing from Dorado Beach with Sardines supplied by the locals. I caught a huge Mutton Snapper, a Yellow-tail Snapper, and some Red Snappers all on Sardines.
The Mutton Snapper put up an insane, exciting fight for about 15 minutes. I always wanted to catch a Yellow-tail Snapper because I've seen em Snorkeling and fed them by hand.
Equipment:
-Shu-Fly Custom Bait-Casting Rod
-A 12ft Surf rod by Off Shore Angler
-Natural Sardines
-0/3 size Circle Hooks
-30-40lb Fluorocarbon leader material
-1-2 oz barrel weights
Also S/O & special thanks to Shu-Fly Tackle & Fly shop in Nanuet, New York, for supplying me with flies, my Shu-Fly Custom Rod, and other equipment.

This video inspired me to start up my own Fishing Channel based in San Juan Puerto Rico. I think I'm holding the record now on the biggest Mutton Snappers from shore. @Healy Outdoors next time you're in Puerto Rico let's do a collab 💪🏾

I’m going on vacation in San Juan June 29th, are there any fishing rod rental shops? I have poles but I don’t want to pay to bring them on the plane rather just use a rental if possible

Anthony Jackson I do not know if there are any fishing rod rentals but you can buy a good enough rod for probably $60 and then either try to bring it home or leave it.

  • 6 жыл бұрын

Anthony Jackson....Never go anywhere without tackle. Period. The pain in the ass of bringing stuff with you pays off. You can crush just throwing lures, and make some friends by leaving a few with some locals that you meet. I've done it for decades, and they will remember you if you return. Given quite a few fish to locals too, and learned a lot about the places I go, just from fishing with "the fellas".

  • 6 жыл бұрын

Nochie A...Just bring a little bit of everything....medium salt water jerk baits (X-Raps and Yo-Zuri), medium sized poppers FOR SURE, and get various sizes of Hopkins Lures...they cast a mile, and catch anything that swims. Bring small hooks to catch bait fish, and circle hooks to throw them for Big Boys. Good Luck, and tell us what you catch!
