    I have honestly no idea since it was so long ago but I believe it was around San Juan and I also believe all the beaches are public or something so you can walk around. It was definitely on the north shore.

    any tips for fishing from the Steamboat steel piers, the docks near Shepard Park with my grandson ? live bait or lures and depth ? thanx

    For bass and pike and other game fish I would keep it simple and slip float a shiner set just above the bottom or weeds if they’re there. Try aim for right against docks or boats and any other structures there. I’m always a big fan of the old school slug-go’s anywhere from shore. One of my favorites for kids to throw if not live bait are the Gary Yamamoto 3” watermelon green senko’s Carolina or Texas rigged, if it’s less than 10’ feet deep no weight. That slow fluttering fall is deadly. To just catch anything half a night crawler with just enough weight to cast always gets it done, slow retrieve or a slow jig is best apose to just letting it sit there. If he’s young a bobber will be fine but move it a little bit every so often to grab some attention. I hope this helps and best of luck out there!

    How far out do u go to cast? I tried this and waved and current jsut would bring my bait in too shallow. And what weight?

  • @HealyOutdoors3474464
    @HealyOutdoors34744642 жыл бұрын

    Less than 5 oz was useless with the current, caught fish and sharks without getting my feet wet and with wading out, didn’t seem to matter, but at low tide or even high tide I could wade out quite a ways before it was too deep to cast and then I usually got hit on the walk back. Don’t let your bait touch the water on the walk out!

    I thought it was kinda weird here how everything was posted no fishing / hunting but people fish. I know everyone says in the water is public property but fish and wildlife told me the riverbanks and forward are pretty much off limits unless you float in a kayak or boat. Confusing to say the least bc I didn't wanna Wade through people's yards back there.
