Fantastic video. Thanks so much for this important info.

Well presented as always. A topic for a video in the future might be, "how do insurance companies handle a second cat theft-claim". I hear of people getting "clipped" multiple times, as the crooks know about a month to 6 weeks after hitting a specific car, they can likely come back and hit it again if it was a newer car and did not get totalled as a result of the first claim (a common occurrence).

Is there a special way to park to make it harder for them?

My 2005 Kia Sedona got hit last year.

Do insurance companies typically request police reports for catalytic converter theft claims? I got the comprehensive coverage day after the theft, but haven’t filed claim or police report. I was gonna pay out of pocket, but the price quotes were too high for by vehicle, so plan on filing a claim in about a week instead.

Typically they do not. Be warned though, what you are suggesting is technically insurance fraud. Insurance companies spend a large amount of money every year fighting fraudulent claims. The have special departments for it called S.I.U. (Special Investigation Unit) that are typically ex law enforcement or professional detectives that are very good at their jobs.
