The last tipyou gave was probably the most important one. I think that when people think about being a lolita lifestyler, they assume that it means exclusively wearing lolita, 24/7, 365 days a year. And for some people that work - but assuming exclusivity of style ignores the complexity of human beings. People are capable of liking more than one thing, people are capable of having more than one interest or quality. Beating yourself up that you're not "lolita enough" or not "enough of a lifestyler" because sometimes you want to wear something else for whatever reason is not the way. However, because the majority of images that we have available to us of lifestyle lolitas only show them as wearing lolita, people end up putting undue pressure on themselves.

PREACH! I think it’s so important to look at yourself and say “I’m a Lolita and a...” because we are more than just frilly dresses and bows. We are entire thinking, moving, breathing, and changing human beings. Putting pressure on yourself to conform 100% to one ideal will only cause frustration and undue disappointment. Who you are as a Lolita and a person should be seamlessly matched.

Solid color dresses are some of my favorite investments for being a lifestyler, I find I’m a lot better able to convert into office wear, I always find putting matching blazers over a blouse and skirt coord helps it look more professional! I took inspiration from corporate goth.

Being a lifestyle lolita sounds fun, but I love other types of clothes just as much as I love lolita fashion. I guess I can just do lifestyle lolita things in my other clothes, drinking tea and embroidering is a bit lifestyle lolita even if I am wearing a less frilly dress :)

Something important: you're not less of a lolita than anyone else if you choose not to be a lifestyler. The reason why the concept of "lifestyle lolita" was dead for so long is because in many cases it IS unrealistic and often very hard to achieve; it takes LOTS of time, LOTS of money, commitment, and is often just not realistic for the average person and that's TOTALLY OKAY. If you just wear lolita to meetups and events that's totally fine. You're still a lolita and you're no less of a lolita than a lifestyler is. A lifestyler is just someone who has the time, money, commitment, or other skills to be able to take it to the next "level"--and it's important to remember that it is NEVER A REQUIREMENT. You don't become The Highest Level Lolita by being a lifestyler. It's not like beating Pokemon and leveling your team to level 100, it's not the final level. It's just something some people choose to do because they really want to, and often because it already coincides with how their lifestyle is. So if you don't want to be a lifestyler, that's totally fine and doesn't mean you're less experienced or less credible. Similarly, if you want to be a lifestyler but can't for whatever reason (ie time, money, doesn't fit into your practical life, etc.) there are still lots of other ways to incorporate it into your life while you wait for your lifestyle to change so you can get to that place in the future. Participating in your local community, attending and hosting irl and virtual events, participating in online communities, having lolita-specific social media, these are all things that can really help you on your way to becoming a lifestyler. ^^ TLDR:; being a lifestyler lolita is fun but can also be unrealistic and expensive, and it is never a requirement of being a TRUE lolita so don't ever let someone make you feel bad for not being a lifestyler or something. Everybody participates in the fashion differently and that is A-OK. Signed, -Another lifestyle lolita lol (I love this video Asami this was all fantastic advice ❤️❤️❤️)

I also recommend getting bloomers or at least some nice comfy shorts, a lot of lolitas skips on a bloomers and they totally can it's their choice but if you want to wear lolita for a whole day they can be a life savior. For me they make wearing petticoat more comfortable because organza touching your skin or stockings is not a good feeling but they also protects you from creeps that you can sadly meet on a streets or even wind or cold.

When you were talking about learning how to do repairs and alterations, I realized that one thing I really appreciate about the lolita community is the value of used items. I like how people will put an effort into maintaining and restoring older pieces, and how people still buy and sell them years after they originally released. It's a refreshing change from the disposable fashion you see everywhere else. Looking forward to seeing some Asami Moon original dresses someday!

Thank you very much. I've been wearing this fashion for a long time now and after the lock down in my country ended last year, I decided to do so as a lifestyler. This tipps show me, that I'm on the right track to where I want to go. They are all cosistent advise, that is not only aplicable to Lolita, and some are very good to be reminded of every now and then. This video reasured me a lot. The only thing I can add ( and that is not adding at all): Listen to this 10 simple points, no matter what your style is, no matter if you are a livestyler at all or not. This is solid advise for every day life, especially the last two.

I wear lolita pretty much everytime I have the chance, whenever I meet with my friends, but I don't use it on university unless I'm going to meet my friends later as I just don't wanna put effort on my appereance when I will spend 4 hours half asleep lol. 🤣 And I could'nt agree more with cage skirts! I just got one that is width AND length ajustable so I can wear it with anything. I love how mine haves detailed organza and cotton lace on each layer so I can leave the crinolette (cage skirt/hoop skirt same thing lol) long and use it as a underskirt. If you guys wanna search it I bought it on Aliexpress, my favourite shop Loligals sells it. 😘 I just think they are much more comfortables especially to go to the loo as you don't have to lift a bunch of petticoat layers. 🤫

About what you said around 9:40 with finding Lolita blouses at a thrift store and using resources around you, I found two blouses for Lolita at a thrift store and posted them online to ask people about them and while one person said it may work for casual Lolita another said that it wont work automatically because they said any Lolita blouse will have a lot more detail. The blouse i found i felt was detailed enough and really nice and fancy to me, but idk. I guess everyone has a different opinion on certain things in the Lolita community

But these tips do come in handy so I can slowly find ways to wear Lolita pieces more instead of just special occasions.

So let me tell you how I came down this rabbit hole and found you.... My friends and I we love the cosplay celebrate pop culture, comments, music and movies. I have been wondering if it is possible to take cosplay as a career. So I got to googling to find if there is a cosplay magazine. And there is. But then I Google is there a black-owned cosplay magazine. Low and behold there is an article (I will leave the link) That gives you a list of professional cosplayers who are people of color. One of the terms that they used I didn't understand which was "Lolita". Didn't know what that meant so back to Google I went and it was a KZreadr who showcased your video. I passed her video and then search for you and Google.....aye s/o to Google because I've been on there all day. And here I am now watching another one of your videos. New subscriber basically. I don't necessarily want to be a lifestyler (sometimes i just want to wear sweatpants even in public or I want to dress up in other ways), but I do want to wear my lolita more frequently than just for events, so I've started incorporating more of my lolita into my weekends and random days when I feel like dressing up, I sometimes wish I felt more put together when I left the house when it comes to my outfit, so maybe dressing up in lolita more often would make me feel more confident about that despite worrying what people think of my unusual clothing

I do have one very casual black chiffon Lolita dress that is appropriate for funerals but I usually don’t wear Lolita to funerals. For wedding, I ask the people getting married for permission. I don’t want to outshine them with my outfit of course or draw undue attention to myself on someone else’s special day so I usually send a picture of what I plan to wear and ask if it’s cool.
