A great watch I bought three days ago...I have used a similar CASIO digital watch for nearly 8 years ...CASIO quality is unbeatable and the price is always right!

its better than a rolex or omega coz it displays the same time as rolex or omega plus it has calendar, alarm and a timer.

For a budget watch that doesn't have EL backlighting, that backlight does a pretty good job of lighting the whole display.

thanks for the review, i got one here in 2021 from a danish webshop and it's an awesome watch and very cheap. i like the very clear display and reliable.

it has such a clean, easily readable screen, I like it.

I had a Casio whose "10 year battery" lasted almost 15 years. I installed a new battery and the watch finally died six years later. 20+ years of durability for a watch at $ 39, it's something! Thanks for the review.

Mine arrived yesterday ..May 2019 . nice and light with a back light that can be read unlike my smaller Casio F91. I have several larger chunkier Casio G-shock watches but I prefer these smaller profile and lighter watches.

I have DB-36 and this watch. I have been using them for more than 6 years now.

50M doesn't mean 50 meters water resistant. It means it can hold 5ATM of static pressure. You can take a bath wit it on your arm, maybe go swimming, but jumping to water an diving is not recommended.

It says 50M because at 50 metres depth the pressure is 5 atmospheres / 5 bar. You just can't literally take it down to that actual depth under water because you need to allow a buffer of a few atmospheres to account for movement while you're in the water. For example, a watch that says 3 bar or 30M is good for light contact with water but no actual submersion. You need to over specify. That's why a 100M water is for snorkeling but you need a 200M for diving even though you are not diving as far as 100M. This should give the idea that when it comes down to the pressure it can withstand, it doesn't translate to real world depths where movement creates small areas of localised additional pressure. A 5 bar / 50M watch should be ok for a light shallow swim now and again. Another thing to remember is water resistance is tested without extensive exposure over a lifetime, but in a short period measuring mere hours. The bottom line is wear it in the water if you don't mind the very low chance that one day it may not be able to take it anymore. At $30 and less, most people would be more than happy to accept that bargain.

There is a hack to get the countdown timer but it requires you to open the watch and scratch off some solder.

Actually you don't have to buy another if the straps is damage... It's is easily replaced, just unscrew the 4 screws at the corner.. I have this watch for 4 years now...

Great watch, but the band will only last 2-3 years, and you can't replace it with cheap aftermarket band. You have to buy a genuine casio band, which means you might as well buy a new watch.

Not true anymore. You wrote this 2 years ago. But as of Sept 2018 you can find replacement bands on ebay for $3.68 shipped from Hong Kong...so you must be patient to receive it. I am going to order one today. Previously these bands cost almost as much as the new watch so I refused to buy one for this model watch when band broke

+Zion Isobal Great watch however the band will only last two or three years. It is custom band and can't be replaced with a cheap generic band. A genuine Casio replacement band will cost you about $15-$20 with shipping! Might as well by another watch.

Those cheap Casios look beautifully on 18mm Nato nylon straps, you don't necessarily have to buy an original Casio rubber band to replace the broken original.

***** well if you are english speaking maybe differences are not that important, DB36 has additional 13 languages days translation, DST (daylight saving time) option, small databank for names and call numbers (not important at all with todays phones), but since it has very similar price and I'm russian speaking I chose DB36

You can actually activate the countdown timer mode. All you need to do is open up the watch and remove a small solder joint(jumper), there is a very nicely made video on KZread only, it's easy, Casio W-96H uses 3239 module, W800 uses 3240, both are just identical, just follow the video steps, it's easy and you will get the mode which will work fine for years.

This watch is good but belt strip is bad broken belt

mines still going strong after 4 years, and it cost me 12 bucks

Biggest problem with this watch is the goofy proprietary lug design that wont allow a NATO or any other band to be used, and thats what casio wants you to do throw away a working watch and buy yet another one - and another one etc etc

Dose it beep every hour. Cause I hate it when watches do that

Everyone has a drawer full of old Casios the bands broke on them. Casio's aren't that good and they need to fix their rubber problem. No point in thinking its a great watch because the battery lasts 10 years, when the band only lasts 3. Also, they need to recess all their displays behind a lip that goes around the edge instead of pushing them out there, otherwise all their displays get scratched to FUUUCK. I suspect all these things are done on purpose to keep you churning watches and buying new Casios all the time.
